All-oral treatment and being in the sun!

I'm on an all-oral (with riba) study.  Been in Vegas since yesterday.  Feel jittery and somewhat nauseous all day.  Is this related to the riba?  I've heard others complain about sun and heat on regular treatments.   Thanks

Hi Adam,
I too am on an all oral + Riba trial. I wan't told to keep out of the sun.
But when I was on  tx with Ifn early last year the sun really affected me badly.
Maybe it's mainly for the Ifn Tx? not the orals?
Good luck anyway :)

Hi Adam-
I had HGB of 7, and I was not jittery. My blood pressure was definately lower and pulse about the same during my tx. Low HGB equals very tired and hard to get a breath. It's hard to imagine feeling bad at 12 hgb. I was mountain biking at that level after treatment. You are on other new meds, they all have sides of some sort.

I did SOC treatment which ended 2 years ago and I stayed out of the sun for the very reason you mention.  In fact, I'm still somewhat sensitive to heat and the sun...makes my skin feel prickly.  I believe it's the riba that causes sun/heat sensitivity.

Thanks everyone.  It's definitely hot as hell here in Vegas.  109 last few days.  Today was 2 hours at the pool in the shade most of that time.  I think it's just too hot (for mortals) out there.  The jittery sensation - not fun.  My guess is it has to do with drop in HGB.  Feels like heartrate is up.  Should prob ask hotel for Dr to take my bp.

Hi Adam-
Are you spending a lot of time outside? Las vegas can be tough in the summer even if your not on treatment. Any of your meds could be causing your sides. Riba can definitely make some people jittery or speedy. Often doctors will tell people to take there second dose early evening or mid afternoon so it doesn't effect their sleep.
Take care,
dave

I'm on Inf/Riba and yes, feeling anxious and slighly nauseous is normal.  Drinking lots of water will help to stay hydrated, especially in such a dry climate if your not used to it.  Sun combined with heat and sweating can turn some minor itching into a major rash, so be careful to watch for that as the weeks progress.

Besides riba, has the trial disclosed what other orals you're taking?

I always get a rash on my legs from doing too much walking in the heat.  But that was before treatment.
