I heard from my trial nurse about keeping the bocep refrigerated. She said not to worry about keeping it refrigerated. They keep it refrigerated until they disperse it and we consume it before there would be any degradation.
Another travel tip when you travel out of the country. You will not be able to send your dosing information. Enter information as normal and don’t send, but do save. When you return be sure you battery is charged and then send. It will send all of the saved data.
Thanks everyone. It would be nice if they would share these tidbits of information with us.
I would like to share some information on flying to Europe with pegintron. The airline wants to know in advance of the type of injectable that you will be flying with and makes a note on you ticket. They also want you to carry a doctor’s note indicating that you are required to travel with it. My other concern is the freezer packs which when thawed is more that 3oz. This rule falls under ATS and is allowed. When you get to the security screening, hand the cooler and doctor’s note and ticket to security and you should not have any problems. If it is a very long flight and the freezy packs may thaw, bring a couple ziplock baggies and ask a flight attendant for some ice.
i left a message on their machine...they will call back

LOL... Hot tamale's...
Let us know if you get a response from Schering...
just a thougt...when we swallow the pills...the heat from our isides does not affect the pills...so i think the reason for storing them in the fridge is a long term thing ...meant for suppliers and such.
How bout i email Schring and Plough and ask them about the pill storage?
ya....but you dont know how hot i am......i sizzle....
All is going well, thanks!
Fret- Interesting about the 6-8 hour rule, I asked that question specifically. I will ask again when I go back on Wednesday.
Rock- They told me body temp was not enough to compromise Bocep.
Interesting to see what others are being told regarding this question.
body heat can raise the temp of the pills...i was gonna do the packet trip in my key pocket...makes it easy to sneak a dose without pulling out a bottle...now i just carry then in a small plastic empty tynenol bottle
Thanks to both of you, makes sense to me........ Hope your doing well
I'm also in the Boceprevir trial, started the blue pills last week. My PA explained the Bocep storage as, until opened it needs to be stored in the ref, after opening it is OK to leave it out of the ref as long as room temps are not extreme cold/hot. During the day when you need the afternoon dose, it is OK to carry it with you, again as long as temps do not swing too extreme, for example it is not a good idea to leave it in your car but is OK to carry in your pocket. My choice is to leave it in the ref when possible, just to be on the safe side, but I do carry the afternoon dose in my pocket when I leave in the morning.
I was told they can last for 6-8 hours without refrigeration. I keep mine refrigerated and I take my afternoon dose with me to work. I was told by my trial nurse that it would be ok to do. good luck
Good question, i get mine on monday and will ask my hepo. I agree rocker it would be hard to carry an ice pack at work all day just for 4 pills at 3:00..... Hope your both doing well
i was pondering the same question...i didnt get the chance a to ask my nurse bout this...i think common sense rules here again...there is no way we can carry around a cooler with all day long....i think it just means medium to long term storage,,,,good question BTW....ya just dont wanna leave them sittin on the fire place mantel
