i had breast ca a decade ago and got the full treatment. now on hcv meds. i quite doubt that one could do them concurrently especially the chemo part. as bill said hcv does not usually move so fast and treatment can usually be postponed. this is not true of breast ca. it seems one would treat that first while taking very good care of liver; no alcohol or toxins as chemo stresses liver...the important thing is that u see a specialist in both areas who communicate well and often. a university setting would be ideal. best to u, babs
Hi there,
I don’t know much about this; I’m sure your oncologist can consult with HCV specialist and come up with a plan. I know of one person that was diagnosed with lung cancer while undergoing HCV treatment; her therapy was stopped roughly half way through while she began aggressively managing the cancer.
HCV therapy isn’t usually time sensitive; it can often be postponed for months and even years if required. Unless there are very pressing concerns regarding liver health, I imagine you’ll defer HCV management until the cancer is stable. Of course, you’re doctor needs to discuss this with you and address all risks and rewards.
Good luck with the Ca therapy,
Bill
