newly diagnosed

I was recently diagnosed with genotype 1a/b stage 2 fibrosis.  I am 39 mother of 4 working full time.  Do I treat with the triple drug therapy (including interferon) or look for an interferon-free trial.

Thanks in advance

Having gone through the experience of my husband's attempt at triple treatment with decompensated cirrhosis, I would strongly urge you to discuss this further with a hepatologist asap.  You stated  that you are a mother of 4 working full time. This treatment is very tough and the more your disease progresses the harder it will be. I would not presume to advise you on what is best for you, but I will tell you doing the treatment with a cirrhotic liver is not something you want to do if you can avoid it.

All the best,
Nan

Hello, if I were you I would do more research, having fibrosis at stage 2 gives you time to get more information, plan, etc
My best to you

I was glad my doctor went over in detail the pros and cons of treating now and the pros and cons of waiting to treat.  A lot can happen.  This is a progressive disease and can act up quickly.  I was pretty symptomatic.  I was glad my doctor made me decide.  I don't think any of us can tell you what to do.  Try to learn as much as you can about your condition.
This is an exciting time for HCV treatment and a lot of us are very excited to hopefully be rid of this virus!  If you do decide to treat, be sure to come back here.  There is a ton of help and hope here to sustain you...
Good luck

If you have ins. that covers the triple drug therapy, that's the road I would take. For the first time person treating with the triple therapy it has a high success rate to rid your body of the virus.
