Dilaudid

I recently met my sister after 48 years and just recently found out she has chronic hep c and I also found out she injects Dilaudid daily, how many times per day I am not sure... what would be her reasons for doing this? She lives in another province with no phone or computor so I can not directly ask her... is it possible she is addicted and not using it for pain but to get high.... I'm  quite concerned for her and need answers..please help if you can...thanks in advance

Dilauded is synthetic heroin and very controlled substance. no doctor in their right mind would give this "addictive" drug to someone because of Hep C.  This doctor is providing her with a "fix" to support her drug habit.  Report the doctor to the board. And while you are at it report the pharmacist.
Best of luck

Dilauded is an opioid narcotic analgesic used for pretty severe chronic pain. I really can't even guess why your sister might need it; the list is practically endless...

However, hepatitis c isn't associated with chronic pain; in fact, most people are asymptomatic and are clueless they're infected until a doctor discovers the virus and tells them they have the disease.

There are, of course exceptions to nearly everything; it's only possible to discuss what is the norm.

I doubt your going to get any real answers out of an internet forum about this, and her doctor shouldn't discuss it with you due to privacy laws; this leaves you needing to somehow discuss it with your sis, I'm afraid.

Good luck,

I didn't answer your questions properly and I'd say that is probably due to the fact that I am a little upset at the fact she would lie to me.I know she has Hep C as I saw a note from her docotor while I was visiting her and she told me she was on strong meds for her chronic liver pain..If this isn't a drug they normally use for Hep C then what is it used for and why would she use it.? She gets the rx from her family doctor so why then would he prescribe such a drug?

Does she have medical reasons to use the dilauded? Chronic pain from an accident, arthritis, something like that? HCV isn’t typically associated with chronic pain; if she tells you she’s using an opiate/opioid narcotic solely because of HCV infection, she’s probably being less than forthcoming with you.
