Gout is usually the result of a buildup of uric acid in the blood. It can cause needle-like crystals to form in the joints which triggers inflammation and extreme pain.
To me, it feels like a broken bone type of pain with the added discomfort of intense burning. When I get it in my toes, just a sheet over the toes causes severe pain. In fact, there is nothing that helps the pain subside for me unless I take corticosteroids. This is not something I would take while treating with Harvoni.
It mainly affects men, but women can get it as well. Usually for women, it occurs after menopause.
Best wishes.
Not that iam adware of. I am. Type 2 diabetic. But thank god no gout. Could u explain excatly what gout is please?
You don't happen to suffer from gout, do you? There have been a small percentage of people in the Harvoni study group who have said that Harvoni exacerbated their gout.
I have gout and at the end of week 1, had a major flare up in both feet and an ankle that crippled me for a month. I've had residual pain since then that gets worse after being immobile for a while and then try and walk.
Just a thought.
Hope that eases up for you!
