Consider that there are many illnesses where the treatment is not assured of a cure. And there are other illnesses where there IS no cure. At least we have a shot at one. I'll take those odds and so have so many others. You do what you CAN do, right?
Don't make too much of how you got this. Nobody here does. We're just all simply in the same boat and we don't ask how we got here. We all have HCV and we all want to beat it and we're all just pulling oars togethere here. Congratulations on getting sober AND for kicking the habit. I would say you're on a roll... :)
I wish you good luck .. keep posting, keep asking.

Thanks for the responses, I'll be asking questions quite a bit since I'm new to this forum and the people here. I have an appt. to see the doctor next month. I really never even considered treatment. My next post will explain why. later
Yes, some people go through treatment and relapse, its a risk we all take to have our health back and to be clear of the virus.
The ultimate price is not a chronic disease. The ultimate price is much worse. And, don't think that you are much different than a lot of people on this forum. It's true that treatment is not always successful. I treated twice before success and so have many others. But, there are other who have treated many times and continue the battle. The majority will get it on the first try. Best things you can do is get informed, ask questions, get healthy, develope a resolve to finish what you start when you make a decision. Good luck.
Willows, Challenging! here? no way... lol. Fret, as willows said it does not matter how or why but it is what it is and move forward from here. There is lots to learn about HCV and this is the best place to learn. Just ask questions and welcome to the board.

No one deserves to be sick, I always get kind of sad when folks percieve Hep C as a punishment, it's not, it's a virus and about 2 million people in the US carry it with them. And yes, there are some here who do the treatment and have the virus come back. The existing treatment...called SOC for standard of care...is effective in about 50% percent of us folks that give it a try.
That said, your posts suggest you have already done very much "heavy lifting and hard work" with sobriety, so consider the 50% success rate and listen to good doctors. You'll make the right choice, but it is very helpful to do a LOT of research before you begin....there is much to learn.
This is a good place for part of what you need to know...a few other forums too....articles on line about current treatment and some REALLY exciting new drugs being tested are out there, info to be absorbed also. Good luck. I can't imagine anyone here getting too uppity with you....but then this forum is always an interesting and challenging place to participate. Welcome.
