Vertex Ambassador Program - Nov. 11 Update

ATTENTION ALL OLD TIMERS...you will love this!!!

Yesterday I posted that I volunteered to be in Vertex's Ambassador Program.  Right now I'm in Cambridge, MA along with 12 other SVR people to prepare our stories to share with the untreated.  If 1 person decides to tx early because of what I'm doing then its been worth it.

Tonight at the reception dinner I'm sitting at a table talking to other ambassadors and Vertex people.  All of a sudden the guy across the table looks at my full name on my name tag and says, "Are you miked?", which is my nickname here on MedHelp.

I replied yes and he says, "I'm Adiamo1!"  I literally talked to this guy on this forum for five years while we both were working on our SVR...wow!  Adiamo1 (Eric) had treated multiple times and I remember thinking if he can endure all of that what am I whining about.  I met one of my mentors tonight for sure.

Then the woman sitting next to Adiamo1 says, hey miked, I'm electra22.  We shared many experiences here too!

Last but not least I also met a friend of NYgirl and had a nice chat and dessert with her.

This forum was a God-send for me while on tx.  Everyone should be thankful to have each other in this community.

It's a small world.

miked

Hi guys,

This weekend I met some great people in a great program to help support people who are treating or considering treatment.

At this weekend's program we learned that we have to be very careful about what can and can't be said at this time.  There are new drugs coming that show a lot of promise but have to go through the formal process to be approved.  Under no circumstances would I want to derail something that may benefit so many people suffering.

I'm looking forward to serving in my new role and hopefully will have the opportunity to interact with many of you in the future.

Thanks,

miked

Jealous me!!!!!!!!  I could have been there but for the fact that my trial is still considered open.

I can't say enough good about my experience with Vertex and the Ambassador program (even tho I can't participate until next year)

Yay for you miked....I know you will make a difference in the lives of other HCVers!!!

Say Hi to my dear friend Eric for me =)

Now go out and Kick It for all heppers everywhere!!!!!!!

Cool! I had just joined the board when you and VXman were comparing notes and was thoroughly confused (learned so much from you guys). Later following Andiamo (and others) as the good news was reported.

Thanks for sharing that, what a wonderful experience, you just made me smile from ear to ear!  As it's often said, if paths are meant to cross.... :).  And a heartfelt thanks to you and all those ambassadors for taking the straight direct path to helping others find the cure.
Best of luck, and 'bon voyage'! ~eureka
