I just attended a seminar on Thursday by Donald Jensen, MD, Director, Center for Liver Diseases, University of Chicago Medical Center. In agreement with what Bill wrote, he stated that marijuana definitely increases scar tissue in the liver. If it were me, I'd search for alternatives. But I also agree that you have to weigh pros & cons and make the best decision for you.
Novae: That's interesting about the Oregon case.
hiya,
Keep in mind that if the treatment does not work, you can be rejected for transplant consideration based on illegal drug use. This is the case in Oregon, even if you have been issued a legal medical marijuana card.
Hi summer,
I'm an ex addict. I would love to toy with the idea of smoking the herb to help with the regular nausea that I get (and maybe to just get high). However, I have almost 25-years clean and though it has been that long, I am not deluded by any thought that I could use it successfully without the beginnings of maladaptive behavior. It sure is fun to play with the idea though. It makes me really wierd too Bill.

Hi Summer,
There are studies that seem to show that chronic marijuana use increases fibrosis; with that being said, I think it’s important to weigh any potential risk against the obvious benefits of remaining compliant with meds, and successfully completing treatment. I can’t smoke it anymore because it doesn’t sit well with me these days, but I sure would have during treatment if it didn’t make me weird :o).
I hope you’re doing well, hang in there--
Bill
I use it daily .It helps with alot of sides . bob
I used it a few times early in tx, because I just couldn't eat and was losing weight rapidly. The beginning of tx was the worst for me, just felt like I had no control over my body or mind, then after maybe three months there began to be a pattern to my week, so emotionally I knew what to expect. That made it easier knowing the beginning of the week would be loss of appetite, etc. but at the end of the week I felt better and HUNGRY! lol.
Wilful
I could not have gotten through tx without it. I used it during cancer chemo. They gave me very expensive and ineffective meds for nausea but I had trouble holding down oral meds and besides they did not work very well. I used it for nausea and anxiety, and to give me an appetite. When I treated for Hep C used it again and it helped me get through without taking antidepressants.
