Thanks again for all of your kind replies.
Mark.
Sorry also i think the highest of the readings was 6.6 kPa the median was 5.1 the lowest 3.8 would this still suggest no fibrosis? Thanks.
Mark.
I'm not going to go out and pound a 26er of Jack Daniels now, though. ;)
I know it sounds a bit daft. They were worried about the alcohol consumption initially i think. Thanks.

My FibroScan was "between 6 and 7". My understanding is that they take a number of "readings" (I think it was 7?) and all of mine were between those numbers. At my last appointment I was told (because I'd never asked til then) that I was considered "F1".
Something else I found interesting... I commented to the doctor that I didn't drink, ate well, excerised, etc and that was probably why I had little damage. He said no, it was my immune system keeping damage at bay.
Hi Mark...
Why would your doctor have already prescribed a FS without knowing if you have HCV?. Sounds like the cart before the horse.
You have no fibrosis to reverse.

Thanks for your kind welcome.

Hi, Thanks for you kind replies. I am waiting results for HCV. I also did quite a bit of heavy drinking in the past. Also is fibrosis reversible with drug treatment. Sorry I'mvery naieve about these issues. Thanks.

A FS scan result of 5.1 kPa would mean no liver damage(fibrosis) as it correlates to the Metavir scale that would be considered F0 -F1.. Keep in mind FS is prone to some degree of error (especially in earlier stage )interpretation
(2.3-6.6) F0 -F1
(7.3 -8.9) F2
(10.5- 11.6) F3
>12 F4(cirrhosis)
Do you have HCV?

What Does My METAVIR Score Mean?
The fibrosis is graded on a 5-point scale from 0 to 4. The activity, which is the amount of inflammation (specifically, the intensity of necro-inflammatory lesions), is graded on a 4-point scale from A0 to A3.
Fibrosis score:
F0 = no fibrosis
F1 = portal fibrosis without septa
F2 = portal fibrosis with few septa
F3 = numerous septa without cirrhosis
F4 = cirrhosis
Welcome to the forum. Fibroscans are not normally given in the US but someone will be along who knows something at some point. cheers
