Starting a Gilead 2 DAA + Peg and Riba Trial This Week

Hi All,

Just got word that I am starting a trial this week.  It is a Gilead trial with Oral Antivirals (GS-5885, Tegobuvir, and/or GS-9451) With Peginterferon Alfa 2a and Ribavirin in Treatment Experienced Subjects With Chronic Genotype 1 Hepatitis C Virus Infection.  As I have posted before, I am a Genotype 1a, il28b of T/T with Stage 3 Fibrosis.  I treated with Peg and Riba from October 2010 until the beginning of February 2011, but was stopped due to not reaching a 2 log drop.  Wanted to find out if anyone else is doing this trial and how it has been working for them.  Also, wanted to know if anyone has tips as to the best foods to eat for maximum medication absorption.  Want to fight this dragon fully armed.  Thanks for all of the help and support that I have gotten since joining this community.

It sounds like this trial may be omitting the interferon, is that right?

I am also starting this trail (I think) next Thursday. The protocol # is GS-US-256-0124. They have dropped the Tegobuvir from this study and have placed all in Arm 2 getting the GS9551, GS5885, and the interf/riba. I am also a no responder 5 years ago with soc. 1a, stage 2. The coordinator said the first victim had a 5 log drop after week 1. That is encouraging.

I had a difficult time early on the soc with anemia and WBC. They reduced both the interf. and riba. a couple times and my VL went up after it dropped the first 2 weeks. Good luck to you and keep in touch.

Are you sure Peg is involved?  Sounds like the trial I'm currently in, but it's all the orals you mentioned.  No Peg.  So far so good.  UND between 3 and 7 days in.  On week 6 of 24 now.  Good luck!

I love Gilead, mostly because I did a different study and so far so good.  I finished 24 weeks, and was und at 1 week and throughout.  these were Protease inhibitors and polymerase inhibitors.  I wish you the best luck,
eat what you can, yogurt, protein, whatever your body will tolerate, drink water and rest
