thx i will consult with this option to my physician.
sorry!
I forgot to mention i am from Lahore, Pakistan and we can only use drug that can availible here. or we have to import them.
If your brother has an option to obtain pegylated interferon rather than standard interferon, the former is preferred. Pegylated interferon has been the Standard of Care in the United States since 2001 or so. The interferon protein has been chemically bound to a molecule of polyethylene glycol; this reduces the need for thrice-weekly injections, and offers increased odds of long-term success.
There are other new drugs in late phase clinical trial now; however, most of these studies have been for genotype 1 patients. These new drugs will be used in conjunction with interferon/ribavirin, and it may be a while before they are available in markets outside of the U.S. He should discuss any of these options with his physician.
Good luck,
Bill
i missed that he is a 3a. the new meds may not work for him so it would be better to treat right away. But I would question the 3 shots per week.
the 3 per week injection is old school. the new pegelated interferon is only givin once per week with ribavirin. not sure where you are from but this is the latest protocol in the USA.
another option is to wait about a year for the new drugs coming out. these new meds have a better cure rate and one of them, Telaprevir offers a shorter course of treatment
best of luck
