My trial team called me cured (their exact words) at 24 wks post tx and said I didn't need any more follow up testing, will I hold my breath forever, I sure hope not but I'm not quite there yet and the thought of relapse still lurks around in the back of my mind, I will probably get tested again at 1 yr post and see how it goes from there
My team didn't say anything about follow up testing either, but I'm wondering if I can get my primary physician to do a test in six months or so. I did not anticipate that after an SVR I would still be thinking about it, but I guess we always will.
I would think a routine CVC would show a spike in the liver enzymes if there was a relapse? But maybe not. Oh well, if nothing else I am grateful to give my liver a rest and will watch it and just hope for the best. Not much else one can do. :)
My Hepa said the 24 weeks post EOT showed that I was SVR/cured and they do not do any more F/U testing after that 24 week post EOT test because they do not feel it is necessary. They said I do not need further testing. I might do the same as Hrsepwrguy and get a 1 year VL test from my PCP.
"they do not do any more F/U testing after that 24 week"
While I agree with them, they could have been nicer on how they put it...:)
Way cool Faith
Hey! I am so glad this worked out. I have been checking to see if you updated your other thread. I did not know "Target Not Detected" means undetectable HCV RNA (well it does for Incivek and I guess the drugs you took!)
Congrats. If I attain SVR I cannot imagine not having a PCR once a year. It is still so hard for me to believe it might be possible.
Besides the 12 and 24 week pcr, my GI suggested to do one at 48 weeks just to give peace of mind. I was ok with that. It helps to remove any doubt.
