Hi SurfsideGal
Well yeah that too of course.
I just trying to keep it simple as the OP is taking Sovaldi and Ribavirin and is wondering why no one is posting about that treatment..
"Any one know about the drugs ribavirin and sofosbuvir ? I don't see anyone talking about these on this web site! "
I was just trying to describe why not many mention the Sovaldi Ribavirin regimen without going into a lot of detail
Best to you
Genotype is not the only factor in which treatment to consider. Your previous treatment or lack of treatment, as well as level of fibrosis, is important. Viekira Pak and Zepatioer are also great treatments for genotype 1 patients. Wishing you the best, Ken.
Treatment is determined by genotype of hep c.
The most common genotype in the US is genotype 1 which is treated with Harvoni.
Some of the other genotypes of hep c are treated with Sovaldi (sofosbuvir) and Ribavirin. We have several people here who have treated with that combo.
Good luck to you
Lynn
Hi there. Copy and paste the link below to go to treatment guidelines. All of the recommendations from the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease are listed by genotype, degree of fibrosis, and whether you are treatment naive or have treated before.
Many people have treated successfully with ribavirin and sofosbuvir. But there are other treatments that may work just as well or even better. We don't know your history and we are not physicians so take a look at the link and you can ask your doc if you see anything that interests you.

Sofosbuvir is the same as Sovaldi, and a lot of us have done that combo successfully. The Sx are generally headache, tiredness--you can become anemic on this combo, depression--feeling blue. Also can affect eyes, I had a complete eye exam and retina scan. I have a friend who just finished that combo, and he did well, was somewhat tired, but was able to work at a horseranch the whole time, and still has the blues. Read all the patient and doctor information, you can get it all on the Gilead website.
