I believe that there is a Boceprevir study site in Sarasota - look at Clinicaltrials.gov - for that.
The gastro I see is not the sharpest scaplel in the drawer. But, he can handle scopes like an Indian Fakir with a flute and a cobra in a basket. He writes prescriptions well and he knows the value of a hematologists input when it comes to treatment.
The best thing he did was recommend that I have a consult with the liverheads at the the University of Miami. It cost me some out of pocket but they came up with a plan that the GI was more than willing to follow. I packaged up all the tests and stuff and the UM guys did the rest. It was work the trip and the money.
Hi and welcome to the forum. Personally I would opt to treat with a Hepatologist. But if I had no other option but a Gastro then he would have to treat a lot of HCV patients.
Don't freak over the biopsy. It is over in 5 mins and the only pain you may feel is in the right shoulder (referred pain).
Keep posting in this forum and read some of the old posts. There is a lot of information on this site.
best of luck
I am currently seeing a gastro doc who has lots of experience with hep c. I actually like him, but I wanted to see if anyone in the forum was in south florida and had recommendations.
