Hep C and reimbursement

Do most health plans cover the drugs used to treat hepatitis C?

I am on TriCare. If I pick up my prescription at the medical center's pharmacy on military base, I don't even have to pay a copay. But the service is better at the local Walgreens, and there I end up paying only $20 copay per month supply of both Ribavirin and Infergen. I really decided not to take a chance with mail-order deliveries, heard different stories of Rx not being delivered on time...

And mine I could just order through CVS and pay my copay ($40).

It really does depend what insurance you have but most times they should pay without any problems with standard insurance.  I'm sorry we can't answer you more fully but this is the kind of question your doctors office could answer for you easily as they usually have other patients with the same insurance.

Yes, if drug coverage is included in your health plan.  The amount covered and out of pocket expense depends on the health plan.  

The drugs are considered specialty drugs and are usually ordered through the health plan's specialty drug provider.  In my case it was Caremark.
