Read the post " Hepatitis C - Exposure " on this forum. You should get tested for Hepatitis C even if your husband's RNA PCR shows he's not
infected. You could have been infected during the time he was contagious.

"My husband just found, through a blood test, out he has 'came in contact' with hep C. Does that mean he has it?"
No. It is an antibody test that shows he was expose to hep C. Not all people that are exposed develop chronic hep C. He needs to have a PCR test to find out if he has virus in his blood and is chronically infected.
"The only time he could have been in contact with it was about 3 years ago. well, since then I have used his razor, I never buy my own I always use his after he shaves, I never thought it was a bad idea. So I'm thinking I probably used his razor twice a week at least for the last two years. he nicks himself all the time and so do I. We are waiting on the VA to contact a liver specialist for him so it may be a week before I can get tested, should I be worried for myself as well as for him? "
No. You first need to know IF he is infected. He may not be.Take it one step at a time. There is no reason to jump ahead ahead when you don't even know that he is infected.
Another thing, could we prove when we got it?
No. There is no way to prove when most people were infected.
The only way he could have came in contact with it was while in war, would we be able to prove it?
No. Many people are infected who never engaged in any high risk actively yet they are infected. People can only usually guess when they were infected. Beside hepatitis C could not be tested for before 1992 if infected before then.
We have only been sexually active with each other and have never does drugs or had a transplant and we don't know anyone who has it it had to be while he was a medic.
Hepatitis C is rarely transmitted through any sexual practices.
Did he ever have a transfusion before 1992? The blood supply was contaminated then.
First wait for the RNA PCR tests results. He may not even be infected.
Good luck!
