Hepatitis-C injections in summer season.

I am suffering from Hepatitis-C. Kindly tell whether its recommended to take interferon injections in summer season. Because one physician told me that its better to take injections in winter season. Please suggest.

I am resident of Rawalpindi, Pakistan.

You must be getting un pegylated interferon.  I am sorry.  Here in the US they don't use that any more.  They use interferon that is pegalated or time-released.  Therefore we only have to do it once a week.   You must be genotype 2 or 3.  They are the most prevalent in your part of the world, and you can treat in 6 months.  Given that, it would be better to do it in the winter.

I live in West Texas.  Our summers get into the 100 degrees farenheit often (37 celcius). However, our humidity is very low.  5-20. Besides, in reality I live in air conditioning most of the time.  Good luck on your treatment.

Curious, are you trt with Peg-Intron or Pegasys?  As mentioned, Pegasys is 1/week, not sure of the other.

We are approaching summer and the Florida heat and humidity can be brutal.  We are fortunate that most home have central A/C, as do our automobiles.  Without it, lots of sweating.  The heat doesn't bother me too much, but I don't work outside all day long.

The heat took its toll on me...90 degrees plus it wasnt fun...It was a struggle...just getting out of the car..especially with a HGB of 10 thruout I had to walk tiny baby steps.
I wanted to get tx over with and didnt care what if it was snow or heat, Humidity of 90% was tough..just kept myself hydrated and did the best I can.

Probably is better doing tx in the cold..personally I would just want to get it over with., but that's me.

Wish you the very best of luck and health.
Tx is not easy you will get through it as all of us have., whether its hot or cold.Just keep your chin up!!!!!

Alternate days? Usually it's once a week, same day. Summer temps in the southern US where I live are 35 to 38 C with a heat index up to 42 C. It was very difficult to tolerate the heat, but the humidity, above 60%, was even worse. A few report blistering in the sun so cover up as best as you can. If you can wait, waiting for the cool season isn't a bad thing.

Thank you frijole. Here in Pakistan physicians says that it is 6 months course. Injections are given at alternate days. Can you please tell me how you took injections and where are you residing? Because in Pakistan temperature often goes to 45 C at-least and very humid especially in july and august.

When you are looking at a 48 week treatment, it is impossible to avoid any season.  I think ending in the summer would be worse than starting in the summer.

I found summer a little more uncomfortable for treatment,  But, depending on the type of HCV and the type of treatment you could be on treatment for a full year anyway.
