Hi there, I can only imagine how you are feeling! Please....breathe.
There are many people on here that can help you through the steps.
The first thing you need to do is to have your baby. I had two children, not knowing I had HCV. I thought they tested me back then, they didn't. Are you sure you were tested the first time? I thought it was automatic, it wasn't
Both of my children are fine, yes I also breast fed. There is a very low low chance it could be transmitted to your child. HCV is very slow moving, if you got it recently you have time to enjoy your pregnancy, breast feed your baby, then talk to someone knowledgeable with HCV. A hepatologist is best
Others will be along soon and can help you. I just happened to log on, saw your post and wanted to reassure you. Hang in there!!
Dee
Am so happy someone is here for me.
You don't know how encouraged I am to read this.
Thank you.
I was tested the first time, but I had blood transfusion during the birth of my first baby, I believed the HCV came from there.
Once again thank you.
There is a 5% chance the baby will be infected. Remember, that means a 95% chance the baby will NOT be infected. All babies born to HCV infected moms are born with the antibodies. But 95% will lose those antibodies by the time they are 12-18 months old. Good luck with the new little one.
Thank you very much.
A million thanks for this.
Unfortunately, my child is in that small 5%. I breastfed for 18 months. 9 of which I was unaware either of us was infected. If you do not pass in vertically then i wouldnt worry about nursing your wee one. All the doctors I have visited say that it's not transmitted through breastmilk. Wish you the best!
