if she doesn'y have major liver damage then the best treatment she could receive is waiting until next year for the new meds coming out.

There insn't enough data in your post. you should also tell: genotype of the virus, stage and grade of the liver (stage and grade measure the situation of the liver and how advance is the disease, the best way to know that is by doing a liver biopsy).
Your mother should choose a good doctor, hepatolog with experience with hepatitis c, and he/she should guide her.
There is a good chance to recover but without the data I mention it is difficult to tell.
Imyself, and many others who are visiting here from time to time passed this journey, we have killed the virus and we live healthy life, so certainly there is hope.
