High fever in HCV

Hi all, hope you all are fine.
Actually, i want to ask about Hep. C disease. My father is ill with hep. C and he is taking treatment last from 13 days now, he has much fever about 101 to 102 degrees.
Is this common or non? Is this better for patient's health or not? Should we take him to the Doctor?

I am not really familiar with all the different combos of meds still in use at present, but I do not believe it is normal.  Anyone who I have heard mention fevers always said low grade, if I remember correctly.  Also, way back in the 90s, when I was on Interferon, I had a low grade fever a lot, I think, but on the Sovaldi/ Ribavirin, I have not had anything other than normal except:

1 time , up a few tenths, not even half a degree.    and
1 time when my temp was down almost 1 degree.

i believe you would be wise to, at the very least, call his hepc Dr's office and have them ask the Dr if that is standard for his treatment, or does he need to be seen.

I believe others will be giving more specific info, etc., so hang in there.

Hope you Father's health improves and he gets rid of this virus soon!

Pat

Hi Sister.   This sounds infection related.  A visit or call in to the Dr would be well advised as Patra has suggested.  A relatively high fever is not typical with Hep C treatment.
Best Wishes

When to call or see the doctor

A fever has many possible causes. Most commonly, a fever is part of a viral infection that will go away on its own. However, there are some reasons to be concerned or worried about a fever; do not hesitate to call or see a doctor for any high fevers.

Call the doctor if any of these conditions exists.
If the temperature is 103 F (39.4 C) or greater
If the fever lasts more than seven days
If the fever symptoms get worse
Call the doctor or consider going to an emergency center immediately if any of the following symptoms occur with the fever.
Confusion or excessive sleepiness
Stiff neck
Severe headache
Sore throat, especially with difficulty swallowing or if the person is drooling
Rash
Chest pain
Trouble breathing
Repeated vomiting
Abdominal pain
Blood in stool
Pain with urination
Leg swelling
Red, hot, or swollen area of skin
People with serious medical illnesses, such as cancer or HIV, may not show some or any of these warning signs. Mild symptoms with fever in this patient population should be discussed with the doctor to prevent them progressing into more serious infections or other conditions.

At 101 degrees you need to go to the emergency room. Never discount a fever. Get them there quickly.

Yep. Doctor time. My fever shot up to 103 when I took my first interferon shot. I was so sick. This forum walked me through it. At 104* I was going to seek help. Then my fever started to break and I never got a fever again. It's not normal for your father to have a persistent fever at this stage of tx no matter what the drugs.
