How to begin?

I'm to start taking Savaldi, Ribivarin and Peginterferon(Redipen) today.  Should I take them all at the same time(all at once)?

Did you ask if it was ok to take pain reliever ? If doc said it was ok I would take it 1/2 an hour before shot .this may not happen every time ,I was bothered with some and not so much with others . Lately the second day after seems to be the worst for me . Different for all of us . I do believe water and plenty of it helps me feel better

Very tough beginning.  But, nothing I can't handle. Peg-Interferon, Ribavirin and Sovaldi produced
Elevated temp. causing chills and violent waves of tremors. Thanks for your help.

The site injections will become bruises eventually, and take a while to go away. Just move sites around. Keep drinking water and eating, even if you have nauseau. You might try some ginger snaps or candied ginger or ginger tea for the it too, it will help settle your stomach. Almonds also help too. Hang in there!

I take 4 pills in the morning and 3 at night. I take the shot Friday mornings so i can recover by Monday. When I waited until later on Fridays, i was super achey still by monday. The areas I give the shots look really weird. Large red patches surrounding them. I am on my 3rd and am taking them on upper thighs. Worst of my symptoms is brain fog periods, slight waves of nauseau, serious aches (body and head). Otherwise it isn't that bad.

Hi how did your first shot night go ? I am On same treatment ,was scared  about giving myself shot .i actually did it at docs office first time. All the advice you previously got is really good . I have asked and followed those who have responded to you . Water is extremely important. Eat with yours meds . And ask here if you need help or tips or concerns . Just remember to check with doc or nurse before taking any otc  meds or herbal supplements . They can have adverse effect or lower chanes of cure . Good luck !

Good Morning, I hope you are doing ok.  Pooh and Sandi gave you great advice.  When I treated I found that it took about 5 to 6 hours for me to feel the interferon.  So, I would take the shot on Friday too as soon as I got home from work.  That way, the hope was, that I could sleep through much of it.
The first shot seemed to be the worst for me.
I think it is the shock to the system.  After that the shots got easier.

Everyone responds differently, as you go along you will know better how you respond.  Drinking water is very important.  The tx dehydrates us and dehydration can cause body aches.  I did not know that at first but quickly learned with help from people here.

Everyone here is very helpful, if you have any questions please ask.
Take Care Dee

Hi, Sorry to respond to your post so late in the day, but I took the same 3 meds as you. And I am now virus free!

I took my shots on Friday night about 8:30 just like Pooh suggests, so I could recover on the weekend and be able to work on Monday. I took 2 Motrin 1 hour before, and 1 Extra-Strength Tylenol 30 minutes after the shot (check with your doctor before doing this, as it depends on the shape your liver is in). I had to write down time to take the second pill, as I would space out as soon as I got the shot. I would eat about 6:30, and get ready for bed, and would fall to sleep about an hour after my shot. I took a half a Benadryl every night to help me fall asleep (on the advice of my nurse), but again check with your doctor. For about 2 days after, I would just feel tired. I would take it easy, and found I had to do and watch "happy" things as I had anxiety issues over anything too violent or sad.

I would get an injection site reaction every time of a small itchy rash, I used Calendula cream on it as soon as it would appear and it would be gone by morning. I also got small bruises at each injection site. Rotate your sites around each week. I took mine in the upper thighs, I had a nurse friend do it for me every week.

It is important to take your meds at the same time throughout your whole treatment. Drink lots of water, 1/2 your weight in ounces, so 160 lbs = 80 ounces+. More if you drink any caffeine. I found distilled/purified room temp water the easiest to drink. The more you drink, the better you will feel.

Try to eat plenty of small meals, healthy snacks. I ate cheese sticks, fruit and nut packets, applesauce, bananas, yogurt, etc. It helps to keep your energy up, because even if you are not doing a lot, your body is working very hard to process these drugs and eliminate to virus. I also tended to eat whatever sounded good to me. I noticed I craved fatty salty meals sometimes (hamburgers, tacos), maybe because of all the water I was drinking.

By Wednesday I would feel like my energy was recovered. I was lucky enough to be able to work and telecommute from home, and so worked full time during Tx, but rarely went out except to a work meeting about 1 time every week or 2, usually on a Thursday, and to go to the doctors.

As you have probably read, you need to avoid the sun! The whole time you need to do this! Wear long sleeves, sun hats, sunglasses. Sunscreen didn't seem to be enough. The sun would hurt my skin. I started feeling it after about a week on Tx. You don't want to get a rash going, as it is hard to control once it gets going. Your skin and hair will probably get very dry, my hair felt weird quickly, got really dry and straight. Moisturize! My nurse suggested baby oil, and it really worked.

Good luck! This is a very do-able treatment, and it has very good results. Remember it is only for 12 weeks, so just go 1 day, 1 week at a time. Good luck!

Take the Interferon in the evening. I took mine about 8:30 or 9 at night. That way you will be asleep when some of the side effects kick in. I also took a couple of Tylenol tabs (325 mg each) when I took my Interferon shots. If you take the extra strength Tylenol, only take 1 tablet.

You can take your pills at the same time (or as your doctor directed). Is your Ribavirin spaced out to twice a day? You may want to take the Riba earlier in the day, not at night time, as it can cause you to have trouble sleeping if taken in the evening. You could start it tonight and then get it onto an am and afternoon schedule tomorrow.

I was not on the same treatment combo as you are on. I was on triple med treatment with Interferon, Ribavirin, and Incivek. I took Incivek and Riba at 6 am, more Incivek at 2 pm, more Riba at 6 pm, and more Incivek at 10 pm. So a lot of pill taking.
