This is one of the links mentioning the vit B12. It seems to be just recent but I have an app in couple of weeks so I will ask my specialist. If is true is good news, anything to improve treatment outcome
Thank you so much. I am eating only vegetarian, majority organic. Have every morning 2 vit c and one glutathione, have through the day Salvestrol ( i have also lymphoma). One weekly vit D of 50000 units. Probiotics and right now for a while I am having mistletoe extract injections.
it is important to be in injection form. So the reference was stating, around 5000mcg. Oral does not seem to have any effect
I am taking it already, 2 every morning plus one glutathione (same company)
Hi Diane, I'm not going to address your question about vitamins, because my Doctor insisted that I go off all my vitamins and supplements, during Tx. I think she did this because my liver enzymes were so elevated at the time (10 times higher than normal range) so, when this happens, the Doctors suspect we are taking some kooky supplement, etc.
I will admit, that for the 2 yrs prior to Tx, I did take the following vitamins and supplements: vitamin D3, vitamin E, chewable vitamin C (but only if your biopsy shows that you dont sufer from "iron-overload", as vitamin C increases iron absorption), folic acid, selenium, and alpha lipoic acid. Also, when I could aford it, I took s-AME.
It really helps to have a blood test, that indicates what vitamins the individual personis actually low on. Those vitamins I took are basically what people with hep C tend to be low on, but we are all different.
That being said about my vitamin in-take, I think taking those vitamins did help me, as I cleared my Hep C in the first 4 weeks, so I ee like I may have been "primed", or maybe my virus was just an easy strain to eradicate, or my immune system agreed with Interferon, we dont know.
Another thing I was big on, the first 12 weeks of Tx especially (I did Triple Tx with Victrelis), was
keeping my diet very healthy and wholesome. Remember: Interferon is what our body produces, when we fight off the flu, and other inections. Now, we are boosting our immune systems, with the Interferon shot, and the added anti-viral boost, of ribaviran. I treated myself the way someone would treat their child, if they were recovering rom a flu. You would give your child plenty o rest, soft clean sheets, home-made chicken soup (or veggie, if you are vegan),
and a comortable and strss-ree environment, to heal in.
It also helped me, to take a short walk, when-ever I felt anxious, or weird. And if I elt nauseous, again, I would eat something healthy, and drink a ton of water. The healthy food, and short walks, always made me feel better.
Oh, I also see you are startin Teleprivir. So, a diet high in fat calories helps with a successful absorption and Tx. 3 tablespoons of peanut-butter fulfills the 27 fat gram requirement, as does an avocado.
Oh yeah, I started adding tumeric where ever I could to my cooking. Started drinking more green/white tea, as well as eating fruits with high C (when I could).
I researched about supplements that may improve the outcom of tx. I increased my B12 (I was already taking a sublingual B complex), added D3, and vitamin E. (mixed tocopherol)
I guess I have the same question about news of VIT B12. What do we know?
If it's helpful, does it matter if it's oral (swallowed whole or sublingual) or injections? I'd like to think injections aren't critical.
Still confused on vitamins. :) I take my multi and 2000 Vit D and four cups of coffee (coffee cups, not big mugs.)
I'm in week 21 of 24 and there goes the hair just yesterday. I heard Vit B12 was good for that, but I may be a day late and a dollar short at this point?
Vitamin C is one of the best immune boosters out there. I take lypospheric Vit-C. Just search it or go to livonlabs. com.
We just can't win huh? :)
And being thin, I was advised to gain weight prior to tx, which I did lost while on treatment.
If you are overweight, try to lose some of the weight. People with lower BMIs respond better to treatment.
Vit A seems to play a role as well.
