I am Taking Rbeth's Advice

Rbeth suggested another question. If you are a baby boomer and your primary care physician suggested that you be tested for hep C, could you please take the time to tell us. The CDC recommends that all baby boomers have a one time antibody test. Is that message trickling down to the PCP's? Are they complying?

Hi this is just my opinion.
I know people who have asked their doctor if they should be tested.  The doctor proceeds to tell them they have no risk therefore don't need testing.
I know someone who was sick for a year.  No one knew what it was.  When I told him that his ex girlfriend had undergone tx for HCV he asked his doctor for the test.  The doctor did not want to test him.  He had to insist, he tested positive.
I think there is still a lot of ignorance.  It is similar to when AIDs was first discovered and everyone thought it couldn't happen to them.
I read an article that said the medical community did a real disservice to women. by making them think they were safe from AIDS
Until Rock Hudson was dx no one really cared about it.
I think that is what HCV needs, a big public figure that people admire or connect with admitting to having it.

From what I have been told, cancer was once treated the same way.

This has just been my experience may not be everyone's.  I know there are good doctors out there.

Good question. There are forms and notices out that ask if you have been tested but not everyone gives them out.
