Incivek or Victrelis

My wife is ready to go on her TX. My insurance covers both treatments. Which one would you all recommend she go on, the Incivek 12 weeks plus Pegasus 48 or the 44 weeks Victrelis plus Pegasus 48? I think the Incivek has a few more sides but a better success rate. Is that true. Do patients with a lot of Incivek sides normally improve after the 12 weeks? Any info to help in the choice would be great. Thanks

This is from from last month:

"Boceprevir and telaprevir appear comparable in terms of sustained virologic response, relapse, or discontinuation of therapy for patients treated with standard-dose therapy durations and response-guided therapy durations."

I've been on the forum since 2009 which is around the time I went through TX for my type 2b (now cleared). My wife has 1a. Although I'm not fully aware of what she might go through, I have a pretty good idea. Her computer skills are less than zero. My 2 year old granddaughter is more computer savvy than her. So I guess I'll be playing the middle-man with you guys. Have a good day

Both drugs are highly successful. I chose Incivek partly because I started with a high viral load (22M). I wanted the virus to become undetectable as soon as possible. In my case, my VL after 1 week of treatment was 65 and after 2 weeks it was UND. Cheers, GB

Most people do report that they feel better when they are finished with incivek . I did, then my Hbg tanked. She may only have to stay on it for 24 weeks, if she responds quickly.     I do wish her luck. Tell her she needs to join the forum it really helps to get support and information. You stay too!  it will help you understand  what she going through

Both drugs seem to work about the same in terms of effectiveness. They both have several side effects, more anemia with Boceprevir and more rashes with Teleprevir.

Here is an article that discusses some of the similarities and some of the differences with the 2 drugs.

Hope that helps some.
