Doni: Is Chlortrimiton allowed there? I use the 4 mg tablets to help with sinus, but also helps with getting to sleep. In your case, if you can get them - here they are an O-T-C med - you might want to take one @ 4:15 when you wake up. Wouldn't hurt to check w/your Dr, but, since you are post tx, there probably won't be a problem unless you are on another med that would contraindicate the CTM.
BTW, I am 3 days post tx and no change in sleep patterns from what they were on tx. I still can't seem to sleep during the day unless I am exhausted, but sleep well at night (pre tx could sleep any time, any amont and then sleep all night, too).
Also, as Hope and Bucky said, this may straighten itself out in the next week or so.
Good luck and good sleeping! Pat
Thanks a lot for your comments. I was on sovaldi based triple tx for 12 weeks. My doctor said no side effects mentioned post tx. But i still think it is due to drugs. Strangely i am not sleepy in afternoon but feel irritated and unfresh. Melatonin is banned in UAE where I reside so I am taking valerian pills instead. Or should I see a cardiologist or neurologist? And what is even stranger I wake up at sharp 4:15 every morning!
Hi Doni,
I did not sleep well before treatment with S&O, but during meds I slept like a baby. I finished treatment 11 weeks ago and now I am only sleeping 6-7 hours a night. I don't wake up during the night an am not sleepy during the day. I figure that I am not using as much energy since my body is not in a fight for its life so I don't as much sleep. Another pleasant difference is that I no longer break out in a drenching sweat just doing normal things.
Bucky
Hi Doni!
I don't know what tx you were on. I was on Sovaldi+riba for 12 weeks (gt 2). My sleep was not that great before tx and it became progressively worse during the tx to the point that during the last 4-6 weeks I hardly slept. Can't call it sleep either. By 4-5 AM I would pass out reading something boring and then woke up around 7-8 feeling tired. But 1-2 weeks EOT I began to yawn almost non stop and after that my sleep returned. Now I sleep like a log. This is the best part of being cured. I guess we all react differently to the meds.
Hi there, I think this is normal, as Livelife said, sleep patterns are all over the place. I am happy that you are UND. That is very good news.
You could try some melatonin to help you sleep or even benedryl but that can make you kind of groggy
Take Care, Dee
Hi Doni. Will say post Tx my sleep pattern were all over the place. Personally I spent many nights with zero sleep, and napped only in the day. Some have mentioned that we may go thru somewhat of a withdrawal effect, but I think the jury is still out on that one.
It took almost 6 months post EOT before my sleep pattern readjusted. Don't know your liver status but with Cirrhosis you can experience sleep reversal. This causes your body to be up all night, and sleepy in the day. If you are non cirrhotic, I would likely give it some time and chalk it up to the meds.
Best Wishes
