Latest news on VX-950

Among 74 patients given VX-950 for whom data were available at the end of 12 weeks, 88 percent had undetectable levels of the virus. That compared with 52 percent of those in the group that received only interferon and ribavirin.
[...]

Despite its apparent better potency, 9 percent of patients taking VX-950 dropped out of the latest study due to adverse events, including rash, gastrointestinal disorders and anemia -- compared to only 3 percent taking the standard dual therapy.

Just to let you know, even if you don't "share personal info"
that doesn't mean it can't be had.

I was once in a forum ( years ago) and some guy was saying how no way is anything private on the net and in fact he could tell me not only my email address, but my NAME, hysical address, phone, etc. etc. in less than a few minutes.

I told him, yeah right, sure you could. No way. well, do you know what? he typed my EMAIL, NAME ADDRESS AND PHONE # and IMed it to me. Told me there were programs that can do that and that EVERYONE on the net can be found. I dont know if that can still happen or if nowadays our firewalls or whatever prevent that, but I bet even those can be "programmed" around. Hacking is pretty amazing stuff. As fst as they make a program someone can devise a way to dismantle or decipher it. I just wanted to share that so you know, if you are on the net you can probably be found.
Im not saying this to scare you, but most dont realize our info is ALREADY "out there" in todays' computer world.

I'm sorry I couldn't get back to you today.  I had the baby all day today - his mom just left about an hour ago. I was trying to read the posts and links while I had him but it was hopeless.

So, mremeet explained it the same way I would have.  The 74 people they're reporting on aren't specifically in group D.  They're just the first 74 people out of groups B, C and D that finished their 12 weeks of vertex.  So, no matter which group you were in, B, C, or D, after you got finished your 12 weeks of vertex, those first 74 people got reported on. It's like you said, you finished taking vertex 8 weeks ago, I finished 6 weeks ago but some people probably just finished their 12 weeks recently.  Remember, everyone started on different dates no matter which group they were in.  So, they already had our data but they were waiting to report until more people got to their 12 week point.

So, basically, all they're telling us is that out of 74 people that took vertex for 12 weeks, 65 of them were undetectable at 12 weeks.  That means that 9 out of 74 were still dedectable at 12 weeks but we know we're not in that group of 9.  Right now, they're not giving us any svr data on that group of 74, just cleared or not cleared at the end of 12 weeks.

I'll call you tomorrow.  I just wanted to get back to you real quick.

Great unblinding news this week.

First, its Arm C for me, which means I definitely dosed with VX950, and that there are just three more shots to go before TX is done. Woohoo!!

Second, it seems I've been UND since sometime in the second week. Still waiting for details, but knocking the VL down from my start point of 27 million to UND in a week or so is another strong data point.

Third, all that matters now is holding UND status for the next 12 months. I'm confident.

Congrats on your unblinding, that's great news! But did they provide you with your PCR's right at the 20 week point? Or did they simply inform you that you were negative since week two?

Either way, way to go. Must be a great feeling to know you've done so well AND that you'll be putting down those damned needles and riba bottle soon.

When they say "9% discontinued treatment", do they mean discontinued all treatment altogether? Or do they mean, only discontinued the VX950, but did continue with the SOC drugs? I'm thinking they mean that 9% stopped altogether. If that is what they mean, then it means there are probably quite a few more who experienced significant negative side effects, but managed to hang on and continue in the trial with SOC drugs after stopping only the VX (like myself and PDS).
