No, please do not use antibacterial soaps! Anti-bacterial soaps will do nothing to kill MRSA and in fact are no more useful than washing your hands with regular soap and hot water. In fact anti-bacterial soaps and other anti-bacterial household products are implicated in the proliferation of antibiotic-resistant strains such as MRSA. Our country uses all these needless anti-bacterial products, and all that happens is that they wash down our drains and create bacteria that resist our usual arsenal. So please do not buy or use these products. Do any Google search and you will see what I say is true.
MRSA is meticillin resistant staph aureus, staph bacteria that is resistant to commonly used penicillin antibiotics. Having it should in no way prevent you from getting treatment for your Hepatitis C. These things are not related.
You say that there was no skin problems/boils etc. Then how did they discover that you have MRSA? Keep in mind that staph bacteria live on the skin of every individual. It is the part of normal skin flora. And MRSA bacteria are very common these days.
If you do have MRSA, I don't understand why you should wait a year until it goes away. There are effective antibiotics that can kill it in a matter of weeks.
Just in case, wash your skin with antibacterial soap often.
You can only get hepc from blood to blood contact - I don't think it could possibly have anything to do with MRSA (not that I know much about MRSA). A lot of people who have hepc really don't know where exactly they go it. Not everyone was an IV drug user...some have gotten it from the dentist or nail salon or things like that. It's very possible it didn't come from your roomate with the MRSA.
You don't have to tell your employer that you have hepc. Most of us have found that we have to be really really careful who we tell because the stigma is STRONG against it unfortunately. If you decide to treat (or find your liver really has a lot of damage) you can tell people that you are doing 'chemo' and they assume it is for cancer if you have bad side effects and need to take a few days (nights) off. It was very apparent something was wrong with me when I started treatment and I made themistake of telling my boss. He of course told hr. They in turn started sending out confidential memo's about me with questions like "is she contagious" on them. Of course I got a hold of a copy and saved it for future reference justt to be safe. A few months later he tried to fire me but they weren't stupid and wouldn't have it so he stuck me at a desk doing nothing.
Well it worked out fine - I got hired by HIS boss who is at the very very top of this company. Now that I'm done with treatment and back to my A game (whatever that really is) I enjoy looking at him when he has to go see my boss hahahaha. :) And he's been through FOUR employees since me and still here i am.
Just a cautionary tale. My current boss didnt care one whit that i Had the disease and if anything was MORE understanding then I ever could have expected. so...you really can't know who will go one way or the other. SAd but true.
Don't sweat it. Get the biopsy and see where you stand. If you don't have insurance there are patient assistance programs that can help you shold you need to treat right away.
Good luck!
I have no idea what MSRA is. We have experience with hepatitis HCV ( hepatitis C virus).
I'm sure there are some who are more knowledgeable than I but if you are referring to something not related to HCV it is best to spell it out.
What you need to do is find out what condition your liver is in. If your liver is healthy than there is no reason you can't wait for a year or more prior for treatment.
Viral load doesn't not necessarily correlate to liver damage.
Good luck.
