I have tried miracle wash and biotene, they don't work. Miracle wash will only work a few minutes. My mouth stays chapped all the time. I am desperate I will try anything. I have been lucky my tx only got really bad the last 3 months, I only have 1 wk left. YAH1111111111111. I've suffered from mouth sores or ulcers for many years... I've thought it to be the result of a too acidic system. I've avoided them the past for months by eating lots of greens with every meal... like a half a plate full, lots of water. I usually get them when I nip the inside of my mouth badly enough to draw blood... it will then ulcer before it heals about a week later. Recently I discovered Kenalog... which is Triacinolone Acetonide?? in a dental paste so it covers the site completely aiding the curative effect of the chemical (usually before bed). Also lots of tooth brushing and original Listerine. I haven't had the need to use this for many weeks now so I suspect I've found some type of balance. I'm not on the Interferon program... I am doing herbs and acupuncture with varying success.

The interferon causes this horrible reaction and unfortunately nothing I could find in all my 72 weeks helped very much.  The good news is two weeks after finishing  treatment - they were long gone.

Ask your doctor for magic mouthwash.  You can rinse just before you eat and it will help with the burning.  Food does not taste the same.  I had a cancer patient tell me her nurse recommended  to rinse your mouth 3 to 4 times a day with mylanta the anitacid liquid. that it really helps.  My doctor does not want me to try because of the Promatic you have to be careful with calcium,  Good luck to you.  Have a Happy Hoilday.

cb,

Do you mean apthous ulcers (canker sores)?  Those are painful.  They are often due to virueses usually adenovirus.  I find sometimes stress brings them out (illness, lack of sleep, emotional stress etc)

Some tricks to help:
rinse with hydrogen peroxide as previously suggested.

try orabase -b with benzocaine (available over the counter).

ask your doc about swish and spit with pediatric prednisone solution and or treatment with famvir.(prescriptions required)

a good night's sleep will do wonders.

patience, these usually spontaneously resolve in 7-14 days

Check it out with your dr to be sure it's not something else.

Best,

Robo

First of all, get your blood levels back up into more acceptable levels.  I am pretty sure it's low neutrophils causing the sores.  Try to address that and you will stop developing new sores and will just need to heal the current sores.  Use any good mouthwash several times a day, the more times the better, to help them clear sooner.

You're probably going to think this is nuts but try eating yogurt with active cultures in it, or swish with acidophilus milk (yogurt is better because it coats). As we go through treatment, our body's PH changes slightly, messing with our body's natural bacteria/yeast balance. When the good bacteria gets killed by antibiotics or the yeast overgrows because of other imbalances, we are more vulnerable to yeast infections that cause mucosal burning and sores (especially inside the mouth). The "good bacteria" in the yogurt restores the balance, and inhibits the yeast that is making the sores...Also, if your mouth is getting completely dried out at night, try the mouth moisturizing gel made by Oragel. It has a glycerin base and a 1/2" of it will keep your mouth moist most of the night. Good luck and hang in there! (((HUGZ)))~MM

Rinse with Hydrogen Peroxide. You can pick it up in any drug store. Also consult your doctor...

Sorry for not explaining better. I have zovarix for cold sores. I am talking about the sores inside the mouth. I get those bumps on my tongue and I have an ulcer type sore on the inside of my tongue toward the back that makes it very hard to talk. It rubs on my back teeth, very painful
Thanks

When you say "mouth sores", are you talking about Herpes? Sores on your lips?
