My biopsy result

Finallly got my results today and my doctor said I have fibrosis, type 3, grade 3. I'm also genotype 2b and will start treatment soon. My question is:  Is the fibrosis diagnosis compatible with my genotype 2b classification?  My viral load is 662,000

Meant to include this metavir scale ..if you havn"t seen it already  about grade and stage

What Does My METAVIR Score Mean?
The fibrosis is graded on a 5-point scale from 0 to 4. The activity, which is the amount of inflammation (specifically, the intensity of necro-inflammatory lesions), is graded on a 4-point scale from A0 to A3.
Fibrosis score:
F0 = no fibrosis
F1 = portal fibrosis without septa
F2 = portal fibrosis with few septa
F3 = numerous septa without cirrhosis
F4 = cirrhosis

Activity score:
A0 = no activity
A1 = mild activity
A2 = moderate activity
A3 = severe activity

Thanks to all.  This forum has helped me in more ways than one, thank you. My gastroenterologist's nurse should be contacting me regarding the specifics/logistics of my treatment which consists of interferon and ribo something. Sorry.  Again, thanks. I feel much better and supported by this group

The genotype has nothing to do with the fibrosis or the viral load.
The good thing is genotype 2 is said to be easier to treat,
Good luck.

Hi there..I would imagine what you have is grade 3 (which is the inflammatory process) and stage 3 fibrosis  which is considered  liver scarring at a fairly significant level.

The good news is that being geno type 2 .the current treatment  combo treatment of Inf/ Riba is approx 80% successful for a 6 month regime.

Your viral load is not that much of a concern and is considered fairly low to average. and the geno type is really not an important factor as far as progression of fibrosis.

Best to be under the care of a specialist(a gastroenterologist or hepatologist ) for you upcoming treatment

good luck and welcome to the group

Welcome to the forum. There are plenty of experts on here who have more knowledge and/or great links to some. I just wanna give a word of encouragement cuz I remember my shock at getting my grade/stage number. Luckily you have a geno that's easy to treat. Are you considering it? Good luck w/ everything.. Karen :)

i am unclear of your use of the word compatible but the good news is that 2b is easier to treat and typically a shorter duration. if u wish to follow my journal and info u can see what went down for me and that am virus free to date with very similar numbers as you. good luck.
