Realized i have a few tongue sores on the back of the right side of my tongue as well.
Its funny you mention bananas i actually was just finishing one up as i read your post. Thanks
Im on week 13 and still have the nasty taste.... like nygirl - I also get mouth sores but I get thrush mouth too... hydrogen peroxide helps keep the bacteria away. I can taste everything from freshly laid road tar, mold in soda fountains to dirt thats in the air... I think the drugs magnify all your tastebuds and reactions to certain foods...oreo's make me sick and hurt too.. They are all right about the water... just wash the flavor back down and drink plenty to keep it there! Fruit might help too... don't forget your bananas!
Thanks for the reminder about fluids, i was loosing track with 1/2 the body weight of water on a daily schedule. Everyone suggestions are very helpful and thanks for the great responses.
Comes and goes most of the time during treatment for me along with an occasional dry raspy cough. Throat lozenges or life savers help a little. As you see, it can be a lot worse for some!
Both the interferon and riba irritate the lungs and you can get a 'producing cough'; as long as what you produce is clear (not infected) and you haven't got a rising temperature.
I agree, I'm making some horrible noises around the house trying to clear my chest sometimes and the things that help me are: exercise(or 'yoga breathing'), laughing my head off (funny movies) and hot showers. With me it comes and goes (some weeks worse than others) and then clears only to return.
Agreed.... indeed common!
I had the phlegm, cough and the ulcers on top of it all also. Regular foods would set me in a fit. THE PAIN!
The nasty taste lasted throughout my treatment.
At least you haven't gotten the tongue ulcers on top of it - boy oh boy I was nauseaus from the phelgm and couldn't eat because of the stupid tongue bumps...I am sorry but I think this is indeed common (unless that is you have gotten a virus or something else along with it) but nothing ever tasted right until about two weeks after my last shot of interferon.
But then, I ate an Oreo cookie and cried - and I never was that fond of them before but it was the bestest thing I ever ate.
are you drinking plenty of fluids? That is so important and it does sound silly but...
I'm sorry I don't have any helpful info on that one.
From what I read on here, and been told by someone who has been through treatment...that can happen from being dehydrated. I am still not drinking as much water as I should. I never had the habit of drinking a lot of water..but I am increasing the amount a little more each day...
