Those numbers look like acute hep a or hep b infection.
After my accident mine were in the 800 900's. It was all the meds.
have you had your gallbladder checked? They can cause all the symptoms you said, you might also have a liver duct blocked.
All conjecture at this point, BUT glad your getting all the tests done!
Very best wishes for good news!
Deb
No I am home I went to the ER last Monday and they sent me home that night. The hospital go my lab work back two days later and refered me to the Gastro. And he is very confussied by my numbers. He is running 15 different test to try and figuer out what is going on with me. And yes the ALT number I typed is correct. The Gastro. Dr. is not convinced of the HCV dig. the hospital gave on the lab report.
I do have to say happily my urine is back to normal color. My eyes are no longer yellow. And the severve naseau has been gone since last Tuesday.
The Dr. told me my number are the worst he has ever seen in his 15 years of practice.
If this is hep A, it is not unusual to have transaminases that high. And the liver is not being "killed"in hep A. It is not a chronic disease and the liver gets better as long as the patient doesn't have hep A on top of hep B or C.
Hard to determine what the cause without further blood tests. From the looks of your scores, you do have "hepatitis"...in general terms...inflammation of the liver. Whether or not A, B, C or.....is dependent on other tests. Hopefully the referral to a Gastro is a quick one so you can find the cause of the LFT elevations.
Take care and keep us posted......Pam
Are you sure about that alt number? Both my numbers were very high but they were both in the upper 200s.
There is no way for you to do anything except to continue to take the simple blood tests and follow the doctors instruction. If you do have or do not have hep a, b or c it will show up.
However - something serious is happening to kill your liver right now. You have a vast amount of damage being done and need to find out what is causing it.
It is a serious situation so please do whatever they say. If you are acute then you just got it - you should know where that might have been from???
Whatever - followup. Followup. Followup. If you do have hep there are treatments but whatever is going on your liver is being damaged and something is doing it.
Good luck.
Those are extremely high numbers. Doesn't sound like hepC to me either. But surly you have had an acute attack on your liver.
What else did the Dr's say or tests performed. I would consult another Dr. Obviously he doesn't really understand hepatitis or liver disease. Which is very strange for a Gastroentologist.
Obviously, your home pretty quickly, unless your on a laptop. You should have been admitted to the hospital. Something doesn't fit.
How and where are you now?
It doesn't sound like HCV. Sounds more like hep A. Your labs ar very high. Good luck and let us know what happens.
