I was 3e but all 3s have the same treatment protocols.

You might want to consider getting an IL28B test before treatment.

http://people.chgv.lsrc.duke.edu/~dg48//L8464-0710-Service-Announcement-FINAL.pdf

and make sure you get a 4 week viral load test.

The IL28B currently offered by LabCorp can help you to make treatment decisions once you've started tx, especially if you are not clear at 4 weeks.

I don't know if the IL28B currently being offered commercialy analyzes only one site on this gene, but if you can find a test that analyzes all three pertinent SNPs, it can offer an even greater insight into your probabilities of success.

If you have never treated before there are several all oral studies with DAA's I am in an all oral study -PSI 7977 and BMS 790052 - I started on Aug 4 and cleared in seven days.  I had minimal fatigue in the beginning but non for the last several weeks.  I go in every two weeks and on Wednesday when I saw my Dr. (Dr Tarek Hassanein) he was visibly excited with what is happening in my study and some others that he has going on.  He said that it is now just finding which ones work the best - he said he also can see a time in the not so distant future where you won't even need to go to a specialist - he said next year he believes there won't be many prescriptions for interferon.   I would do some research before you decide to treat with SOC.  I have had this disease since before it was call hep c and my biopsy was a stage 3 and thank G-d this study was available.  I am also geno 3a-

Hi and welcome. The old meds are way easier than the new treatment which your genotype is not approved for.  It's doable but varies for everyone. As Will said the younger the easier from what I've seen.  Good luck.

Hi..yes ..you are correct, the new meds are only approved currently for geno type1.
The treatment for Geno type 3 is the combo of Interferon/Ribavirin and  this has an  approx, success of 75% treating usually for 24 weeks..
You mention your biopsy 2 years ago showed only minimal scarring ,coupled with the fact you are only 30  you should do well treating.
Good luck and welcome to the group...
