I'm sorry to hear this Kitty...are you talking about one tooth or many teeth?
I had to have a tooth extraction shortly after my 48 weeks of TX - a fractured tooth (and I'm sure it was related to TX) but I've had no further problems. I hope your situation is not ongoing.
After 72 weeks of treatment I too have had tooth resorbtion on 2 teeth. About 6 months before treatment ended one started acting up but wbc, rbc and platelets so low I wasn't allowed to see dentist. The weird thing is that although it hurt, it did not swell until after treatment ended. By the time I was clear for dental work, it was so bad they couldn't get it numb even with about 15 shots. The specialist finally got it out and did bone graft and told me I have another doing the same thing. I am getting it out before it gets as bad as the other. The first one seems to be doing fine and I have scheduled the 2nd tooth for the end of the month. Hopefully I won't have anymore!
I have often wondered about quite a few different people on here that have talked about problems with their teeth after TX. Is it the fact that our mouths are so dry during TX or is it an immune problem from TX causing the resorption?
But anyway, I sure hope things get under control for you all. I absolutely hate the dentist and the dental bills that go with it.

Having undergone 4 failed treatments, my teeth (aside from the occasional cavity) are in very good shape, and they're mine, all mine. I do spend money and do timely follow-ups and timely deep root cleaning. I also spend time in daily brushing, flossing and mouthwash rinsing morning after coffee and night just before retiring. Flossing, my dentist told me, is the most important of the three. Also, not many are aware that bacteria builds up on the tongue. I use a tongue scraper every morning and night. Get one soon and watch what comes off the scraper. Creeeeeepy!

I also need to have a tooth extraction and trying to wait until end of tx. The one with the root canal has root fracture. I understand your frustration. I feel like yeah one more thing to loose,..]?
I don't know if it is directly related to IFN; but I was wondering it might be a stress fracture due to the teeth grinding at night during tx. My tooth is not a healthy tooth to begin with through, it is root canaled for about 12 years.
Hi skersj,
I was curious how the bone graft procedure turned out with tx and all? Was it successful? What kind of grafting do you use? I have started looking into implant procedures and wondering if there are any issues with hcv infection/ tx,.. etc and bone grafted implants.

me and a friend have the same kind of condition as u r describing here and this is our story. My friend was on soc tx for 6 months,he was diagnosed at and of tx but had suspicion had it before(doc had to be asked to test him for it...hahaha wht a joke) and then within 6 months after tx all most top teeth all ate away at the root down and gums were very and constantly burning like acid in a cut in ya mouth.he also failed tx which was very sad so he lost 9 teeth and still having probs with teeth but has slowed down signifigantly, his symptoms subsided 9 months post tx.
Now as for me i had beautiful teeth and within a month of tx i had shocking gingervitus and several tooth aches and stinging of the gums etc just like my friend.i am now SVR and 9 months post tx and still got gingervitus, stinging buring gums and my teeth are eating away at the gumline and i have lost 1 tooth but need soooo much work done and will probably lose them all, fingers crossed i dont.
good luck with ur side affects but i cant complain cos i am cured but i thought id share my story.btw we both looked after our teeth really well as we had good teeth.
The bone graft was from a cadaver (sp?) so I am concerned although the dentist assured me it was safe because of the way they prep the bone. I probably should have researched it better but I was in a lot of pain and still not fully recovered from treatment. The implants are healing nicely and they didn't hurt.
i too, also had great teeth before tx, now i am having all sorts of trouble. like they say if the disease does not kill you the cure will! good luck to you mary ann
