Thank you Pat! He has an electric razor but occasionally nicks himself not very often tho. He does put it in a cleaner solution tho afterwards which has alcohol in it.
I agree with what Dee said, BUT to be on the safe side, I would throw them out and start over.
Is he using the old fashioned kind where you take out the old blade and put in a new one, the throw away kind, or an electric razor? The reinfection, is of course, blood to blood, so if he has cut himself with the old razor and then cut himself again with blood on the blade, AFTER he was cleared, there might be a problem. Same with toothbrush with bleeding gums before, blood on the bristles and bleeding gums again afterward, he MIGHT be reexposing himself BUT those scenarios are very unlikely.
Of course, if he has been using an electric razor, can't see how he could have cut himself; and on the permanent razor, over a month seem a very long time to go without changing the blade. Same with the throwaway razors.
So he may have been changing things there all along.
Toothbrushes are a little different, but there are a lot of 'if this, then thats' so it is probably okay.
Again, just to be on the safe side - new toothbrush and either new blade, new throwaway, or wipe the electric razor down with an aolchol soaked cloth, for peace of mind.
Pat
We didn't even think about old razors or toothbrushes until yesterday it came to him. He's been off tx for little over a month and has been using old toothbrush and razor I'm hoping we didn't make a mistake.
Hi there, I don't think he has anything to worry about, I had those same fears of re-infecting myself, I have a feeling everyone does though they may not say so. When I knew that I was UND, I got new razors and toothbrushes. Of course I knew at week 4 of 24.
Take Care
Dee
throw out the razor, don't take a chance! I threw my razor out and my toothbrush.
