One day black poop & threw up black. Then it stopped and only mucus from butt

I've had Hep C for 50 years never treated.  Never any big problems except I sleep a lot at 70 years old. I have never allowed any invasive procedures.I take a Chinese herb formula for Hep C I've taken for 50 years.  Doctors always tell me what ever I am doing to keep doing it because it is working. Then other day after lifting tons of soil to my back yard, I was coughing and threw up black liquid and pooped black like tar.  Now no symptoms except I have a clear mucus or liquid coming from my butt.  It's almost like I am peeing from my butt. No more blood.  Does this mean my body is repairing it self.  Normally very healthy.  I can not afford to go the ER and have a bunch of tests done causing an outrageous medical bill.  And I can not leave my property for a length of time. I have nine rescue dogs that depend on me and no one else to care for them.

Please take Lynn's excellent advice. Everything she told you is absolutely true. Having HCV for 50 years, it is very likely this is related to the virus and can be life threatening. Just because it stopped does not mean the next time it will stop. If your doctor recommends an endoscopy to look for varices, please do it. We have lost too many people to bleeding varices.

It is very possible when you were lifting the heavy bags you caused an increase in blood pressure in weak blood vessels and they began to bleed.

If the cause was esophageal varicies they can be treated by either being banded or by taking a beta blocker to reduce the pressure in the enlarged weak blood vessels to prevent future bleeding episodes.

Please avoid overexerting yourself until you can find out the cause and be treated. If it is esophageal varicies a future bleed is very possible and not to frighten you it could be life ending.

Please see your doctor and follow their advice.

Good luck

What Are the Symptoms of Bleeding Esophageal Varices?
Symptoms Icon

Esophageal varices are unlikely to cause symptoms unless they have ruptured. When this happens, you may experience:

    hematemesis (blood in your vomit)
    stomach pain
    lightheadedness
    melena (black stools)
bloody stools (only in severe cases)
shock (only in severe cases, due to blood loss)

Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room immediately if you experience any of the above symptoms.

Okay all signs of dark poo's have stopped and no mucus.  No throwing up anything,  Feeling better and more energy.  Color back in my face. Eating normally. I feel something occurred when I over exerted myself when carrying ten bags of heavy soil bags to the back yard.  Because all this occurred shortly after I exerted myself. These bags re about 25 pounds each. I don't want to go to an ER or Hostpital as I will probably come out sick with all the germs they distribute.  Hospital is the reason I have Hep C.  I am making a doctors appointment to be checked.  Yes, my doctor wanted me to go to the ER, but I will not allow them to plaque me with outrageous medical bills.

Yes I agree with SurfsideGal you need to be treated ASAP what you are describing are symptoms of internal bleeding which is a medical emergency.

Please get to the ER do not drive there have someone drive you. Your rescue dogs need you to be well to care for them who will take care of them if you are gone.

Hoping you get treated very soon

No, it does not mean your body is repairing itself. It means you have been bleeding from high up in your digestive tract. Red blood would mean bleeding lower down. This may be from late stage hepatitis C,(swollen blood vessels can burst),  bleeding ulcers, or some other very serious disease process. You are playing with fire by not seeing a doctor. This can be life threatening. I'm sorry to frighten you, but please do not put off going to a physician.
