because the whole glandular system is connected a defictit anywhere has a cascading effect on how other things work. However, you having a sluggish thyroid while on tx is common, and not the cause itself of anemia. The strain on the immune of the virus AND the peg/inf have many deliterious effects, autoimmune and glandular changes among them.
don't just up your thyroid without doctor approval. Sometimes when we are sick we forget to take the meds. they are best in early AM on an empty stomach. If you forget them 10 times a month, your levels will change. I was told, even if I forgot in the AM, it's better to take it at sometime daytime rather than not at all. Some apsorption will occur.
If your dose muct be increased it takes about 6 wks to get a good new read on whether the new dose is the right level.
You don't want to go up in dose too fast, because too much meds will push you into graves disease (hyperthyroidism), which is much more dangerous than hypo.

Hi Melinda,
I can share my person experience with you ...
I have been taking synthroid for years. I never had an issue with my blood counts dropping from synthroid.

P.S. I am currently on treatment and had had my synthroid does upped from 50 micrograms to 112 micrograms a day.
