I think this is a very fair question for this forum. I used both throughout my treatment. My doctor felt it was fine to do so.
At three months EOT I remained UND so I really don't believe it intefered with anything. Best of luck!

Thank you all for your opinions I really do appreciate it, I will have a chat with the gastro next week and take it from there .Its difficult sometimes as one doctor will tell you something different to the next . I know its only hair but it is important to feel good about yourself . I think I will wait for teleprevir anyway next year hopefully , 6 months has to much better than a year of treatment regarding all side effects .

I have been using rogaine for several years including during my last 6 month tx. I just didn't happened to ask my doctor.  I probably should have but I forgot. I didn't pay much attention because it is over the counter topical medication and even my hair getting thin out , I habitually  use it more like hair cream.. It cost about 15$ a month so about the price of a hair cut.

Propecia is a prescription drug and I would definitely consult the physician. My guess is that for someone without any serious health complications, many  doctors would say okay to the regular dose of medications which are not in the averse reaction list to tx drugs and not recorded as interference to the tx functions.

To be on the 100% safe side,  the ideal is not to take any elective/optional medications or medical procedures during tx. Anything less with an okay from the doctor is a personal choice. My 0.02..

I bought the topical rogaine so my hair didn't fall out, it was not cheap and didn't work. my hair still fell out.  I think your suggestion of waiting a few months is a good one!

I think your question is fair enough.  Your hair is going to fall out in excess on treatment even with the use of Propecia or Rogaine; that is just one of the unfortunate side effects. Hair restoration meds are not cheap and personally I wouldn't waste my money on it until several months after you have completed treatment.

j: Forgive the harshness of my posture on your question but I think it is indiscriminately naive to ask a forum of informed laypeople about the wisdom of using a medication (be it for male pattern baldness or other prescribed purposes). Please treat yourself wisely and ask your physician about the inclusion of any medications. While I think these medications (especially topical rogaine) will be relatively benignant) they are medications. One developed for hypertension and one for prostatic hypertrophy.
