I'm assumig you mean your hgb since your discussing anemia. I believe protocol is if hgb falls <10 a riba reduction is warranted and procrit put into place in case it may be needed. I also think that the riba reduction would depend on your UND status as well, meaning your Dr may not recommend riba reduction if you are not UND. If I'm wrong others will correct me. The main thing is, your Dr should intervene if <10. My Dr did not and it was no picnic having to deal with that and the other sx. Has your Dr been monitoring your hgb carefully and do you obtain copies of your labs so that you can also self monitor. You are your own best advocate, Dr's, unfortunately, may not always be on top of things as they should be. I hope you get relief from your nausea soon, there is nothing worse. If the compazine doesn't work, try sea bands? I know it sounds simple, but if everything else has failed, why not try them. It worked really well for my mild to moderate nausea. Good luck and keep us posted.
Doctor gave me compazine to try next - I am showing some anemia also, and YEP, have a UTI to add to the mix. Can any of you tell me the quick numbers on what the blood levels need to get down to before they provide something for that?
Thanks as always.
Why not ask your doctor for a prescription for synthetic cannabis?
It is supposed to help with nausea but I have to admit I like some of the other properties - especially when it comes to inflammation.

There is Nabilone, Cannador, Sativex and a few more. Not sure which are available in the US.

Dealing with the nausea can be a real hassle when the traditional measures do not work. It requires lots of trial and error and individual experimentation. I did not respond to Zofran and like you I find ginger unpleasant.
It sounds like your doctor is trying to help but maybe he is out of ideas or something. It never hurts to ask especially if the nausea is preventing you from eating or impairing your day-to-day functioning.
I hope this works out
Let us know if you stumble upon something not already suggested on here!!
Hang in there!
According to google, Ill. is voting on it in Nov.. So, currently no, but get the vote out and possibly soon...Mark
Is it available in Illinois?
I ate the brownies to get rid of back pain. They knocked me out but took all the muscular pain away. I'd eat one after my shot each week and stopped taking tylenol.
NOW in addition to this nausea issue - I woke in the night with a raging UTI ! Headed to the doctor again soon - and I am so very weary of all of this right now. Lord give me strength. Not functioning well at all right now.
Thanks to all of you!
Not sure - I live in Illinois.
I just didn't know if GrammyA had any bleeding or an intolerance to pain relievers such as bismuth subsalicylate or aspirin so I wanted to make her aware. I just think it's a good idea to ask the doctor first because I didn't know the other meds she was taking or any medical problems.
I hope you found some relief GrammyA. Makes us feel helpless when nothing helps side effects.
it is pot butter, do you live in a medical pot state?...Mark
Where do I find this butter?
i'm with oh on this...i would try a good indica body stone pot....maybe eat something with pot butter.....i wish i could have during tx...regurgitating all the time is no joke...i was so sick during tx i just let my throat burn till it stopped...now i have to eat pills everyday for acid reflux....in the very beginning of tx i tried smoking pot to feel better...just a couple hits...it worked great although soon i so sick i just couldn't take the smell or inhale any smoke...i should have tried the butter....i also was on zofran throughout tx and was able to eat the fat needed for tx...good luck.....billy
I'm so sorry the Zofran isn't doing it for you. It was an instant miracle cure for me, but we have had a few other people on the forum who aren't helped by it, so you aren't the only one. Maybe there is another anti-nausea med known to those who have been through chemo, and if so, I hope one of our members can tell you about it soon. I'm pretty sure there are other meds in the general class with phenergan, so maybe one of those will help you more – but I don't remember any names. All the drugs in that general class seem to render me darn near to unconscious so I never used one long enough to learn the name. I guess I'm basically no help at all, but I did want to at least offer my sympathy!
According to the label, the only active ingredient is bismuth subsalicylate, which sounds a little like acetylsalicylic acid. It is a related compound, which may be an allergen for people with asa allergy. Aside from that or if you're bleeding, what is wrong with asa?..Mark
Zofran melts help my daughter more than the others. Pepto Bismol contains lots of aspirin, I believe. Sometimes Zofran melts help my daughter, sometimes nothing does. She is in week 23, triple treatment, Gen 1a. Best of luck. Please contact your doctor before trying anything else.
Have you tried pepto bismol? That is what I used...Mark
