That sounds low to me. I started feeling tired and short of breath at 9.5.

8???  Wow, I thought I was pushing the envelope at 9.2.  I also went to my PCP and he also said he didn't see where I needed any helper drug. My doctor (Hep Doc) made an interesting comment yesterday relating to how everyone reacts differently to lower numbers. Said she has younger people who seem to tolerate anemia more than older folks (Like Me). Another good reason to do tx sooner to later!!!

My Dr said he wouldn't treat my anemia until I was down to 8. I had to go to my primary care Dr for something unrelated and he asked me why the Gastro Dr wasn't treating it because I was down to 9. But the two of them work together and my primary decided not to insist on tx for it. I'm assuming he didn't want to "step on any toes" with the other Dr. I haven't felt very good lately. Fortunately my husband has really stepped up to help me

I'm jus starting the off n on. Insurance denied cuz hgb was 11.2 three weeks ago. So now I wait for it to drop again. "Whattmess" said the sleepy balding girl.
I guess we'll see how it goes. Just when we start feeling better, huh? Karen :)

Ask that doctor to find out for herself how she'll feel to be at 9 and then she can go around begging for Procrit and have people say she's 'stable'.

Gah!

Rocky - mine was 9.1 yesterday.  I did my first shot of procrit in a month.  I hope it goes to work sooner than last time.  This is not fun.  Did that transfusion last 6 weeks?  That seems like a long time.

brianmo - I am glad you called her.    At 114 you should be fine on 800mg.

this anemia is no fun at all!

I could tell mine had dropped. It has been 6 weeks since transfusion. Someone on forum said you felt good, well pretty good for aout 6 weeks. I live in a colonial and I can tell when I'm out of breath at the top of the stairs that I've dropped!

Mine has been staying at 9.2.I called her today and said we need to do something different. The doctor gave me the choice of dropping Riba from 1000 to 800 or Procrit. If it were up to her she would leave things alone. She said i am stable.   I chose dropping Riba to 800.  Weight 114, female, geno type 1 und since week 4. I sure hope it helps with itching and energy level.
