Unlucky 13 day Post TX

Hi all,

I finished up tx 13 days ago (did 24 weeks since GT 3a and was clear after weeks 4, 12 & 24). I have slowly regaining energy and some of the brain fog has lifted. But today the anxiety / ruminations came back hard. My eyes have been light sensitive (it was off and on during tx), frequent BM's with constant urge, and still can't sleep without Lunesta.

Anything I can do to recover faster? What has been people's experience with EOT side effects and how long they took to leave. Wonder if it will be easier after 24 weeks vs. after 48 weeks.

Thanks,
Joey

I would echo the others.  It took me four months before I started getting past the depression and started to shake off the fatigue, both mental and physical.  Then I started to recover very nicely and now at 9 months post, I feel better than ever mentally and physically.  Hang in there and roll with it the same as you did during treatment and just allow your mind and body to recover.  Alot of us have found there's a post-treatment period to get through also that's also important so give yourself that recovery time.  Good luck.

My first tx was only 24 weeks and I bounced back pretty fast.  Second tx was 48 and it took a lot longer anf the first few weeks were as bad as tx itself but then I really started to feel better.

I see that you mentioned Ativan which are a benzoid drug, I was also on benzoids during tx to help with sleep etc and found that alot of the symptoms I put down to finishing tx were actually withdrawals from the benzos.  Once I got a handle on that (started slow tapering) then I really started to come to life.

Btw, it took my Hb 5 weeks to reach 155 (which is bang on for a woman) and now at 16 weeks I feel great!

Time and patience is necessary and isolating any other possible causes...

Congrats on making it through, wishing you SVR!

After 4 failed treatments, I can't recall being back to normal from any of them for several months... Patience?

I tx for 6 months and finished 6 weeks ago.  The first two to three weeks after tx I had some bad days with heavy sides, but those were few.  Some days it felt like I had taken a shot.  It took around a month before I felt really good and six weeks later doing great.

Still having hair loss, some spleen pain, and don't feel my energy is where is should be but generally feeling much better.

Try not to push yourself to hard and listen to your body.  When it tells you to rest, you do that or you'll pay dearly the next day.  I kept up with the water intake for a month after tx.

Hope you have a speedy recovery!

I agree about the ADs.  Some recover faster than others.
Don’t get discouraged, 13 days is not much time and the poisons are still in your system.
After the torture we went through, we can’t help but to have unfair expectations. We feel have paid our dues and enough is enough.
Give yourself more time. Hopefully you will be one of the blessed ones and will have a short recovery.
If not, we will be here to support you until you get there. R. Glass

Hi Denise,

What kind of problems did you have after TX? When did you finish? How are you now?

I did not take AD's during TX but occasionally take Ativan for the anxiety but was hoping not to need it anymore. Just took a half to see if that will do the trick.

Thanks,
Joey

I don't know the answer about recovering faster but I also had some problems for a few months after TX.

Are you still taking AD's.  If you were taking them during TX I would not quit for a while.  It does get better.  Good Luck
