Stage 1 Liver Fibrosis

I have stage 1 liver fibrosis, I'm a 53 yr. old male. Dr. Caldwell at U.Va. Medicial Center said the only thing we can do now is control my weight. I weigh 205 lbs. he wants me down to 195 lbs. Is this all I can do to slow the progress?
I have never drank, smoked, or used drugs. What else can I do?    Randy

newleaf is right.  The only thing I have read about to help NASH is changing your diet.  Getting rid of fatty foods.  Low fat and low chloresteral.  I think you can improve your liver if you do that.  Good luck to you

I looked up fatty liver (I have that from hep c) and if its's not caused by hep c, dietary modification was the recommended treatment.

Yes, I went to U.Va. yesterday,  I do have N.A.S.H. This is my first post, I don't know what to do?  Does Milk Thistle help?  I go back in 6 months for more BW and BX.    Randy

Stage 1 is pretty darn good.  Not as good as Stage 0 but still not bad.  I am Stage 1-2.  Do you have Hepatitis C?    I wonder if you have NASH - non alcoholic steatosis (fatty liver) and if that is what it is, controling your diet is the answer.
