If you have insurance you can always get your own private testing done. Have your regular doc order it. Or you will pay about 350.00 for a PCR without insurance. A little more if you use the TMA more sensative test
I chose to be in a study for good and less good reasons - the care I'm getting is awesome, the tests beforehand were extensive and thorough, and it's free. Less good - I am curious about the process, and I didn't realize that there are already some pi's on the market, I thought this was my only chance. My doc did push this a bit, but I should have done more homework to be better informed about my options.
The study (http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/study/NCT01309932) is testing two different inf - the standard, or a newer one Pegylated Interferon Lambda, which has fewer sx and I believe is more tailored to genotype 1 although I am not sure about that. They are only taking 1s. It has 7 arms (wow!) so I may be getting one of the inf's and either BMS 790052 or 650032 or a placebo. I think my chances of not getting the placebo are pretty good. I think I am getting the Lambda, because my sx are very bearable.
That shot did sting today, though! don't like those, good luck on the all oral study, that sounds great!
keep up the good work
hugs, Mary
May I ask what the study is looking at for this one? Sorry if you covered it recently. :) I'm hopefully about to start an all-oral study but I hadn't heard about any interferon-based studies.
Can I ask why you chose to be in a study over being treated by your Dr?
We all know about waiting. Good luck to you
Good luck!! Keep up the great progress.
