I had shortness of breath from the riba. They reduced the dose and I felt better.
It is indeed important to consider all possibilities as pointed out by others above.
Drink water constantly and use biotene products for dry mouth.
I agree completely with Pooh. The thirst was constant on tx, and a bottle or glass of water had to be at my side 24 hours a day. I had to drink so much that I was having to get up to urinate at least 4 or 5 times each night. It's really annoying but do not try to ignore the thirst, as many of your side effects will get worse if you don't drink huge amounts of water.
Do talk to the doctor about nighttime shortness of breath. It could be anemia or it could be a drug-induced asthma or it could be something unrelated to the tx. Best to be sure. I did have some asthma induced by the interferon and the doctors were concerned enough to run pretty thorough pulmonary function tests on me, as interferon can (rarely) cause a severe pulmonary reaction. In the end I was treated with a steroid inhaler for a couple of months until it subsided. Ask your doctor to be sure.
The thirst is unrelenting. I could not even swallow sometimes because I was so dry and thirsty. I drank water all of the time, over a gallon, and was still thirsty. I found the best thing was to just keep drinking water. Biotene mouth rinse helped a little, but not much.
Shortness of breath can be from anemia, especially if he gets short of breath while walking or doing things. If his shortness of breath is worse at night (while lying flat and doing nothing), I would ask the doctor about that. That could be from another cause, possibly heart related. So his doctor should be notified and your husband examined just to be sure there is not another medical problem.
yes, shortness of breath especially walking up stairs...
drink atleast a gallon of water per day...
