I dont even know what THRUSH is but I have a case of lynchen planis, and it seems like its not staying in the same places so I'm a little worried for my mouth so I stated to make water and white vineger and wash with that.Too early to tell and maybe I'm using the wrong stuff, but I guess as long as you dont drink it, its OK

Hi Monica,

I picked up a refill for Magic Mouthwash a couple of weeks ago for a friend; the Rx was for ~1 tbsp 5 x day, swish and swallow.

Thanks for your response to my thrush!  Good to know it's common with Hep C treatment.  I was not sure if i developed it from some unknown source.

Thanks for the feedback on yogurt for the thrush...seems to be a common response...and it doesn't taste bad like licotaine and nystatin!

Question...if you don't mind.  You mentioned equal parts of the above ingredients.  How much of each?  Like maybe a tsp. of each...daily?  Thanks so much!!! Monica

I had it in my throat during treatment. It caused blisters and a lot of pain.  The only thing that seemed to work for me was eating yogurt twice a day on top of a systemic treatment that didn't work by itself. Give it a try its not expensive and you have nothing to lose.

Sunshine addressed your question perfectly. California requires a prescription for Magic mouthwash; I’m unsure of Texas.

I also developed a thrush-like condition on the top of my tongue during my last treatment; it wasn’t painful, so my doctor Rx’d Nystatin as well. As with Sunshine, it didn’t resolve the infection, but kept it from spreading or getting worse. It eventually  self-resolved, and I’ve had no further problems.

Take care—

The magic mouthwash that I know of is maalox, benedryl, and lidocaine. It'll soothe the sores and make it feel better but it won't actually get rid of the thrush. I found, I was plagued with it for the last few months of tx. I took Nystatin continuously, found that, it didn't get rid of it but at least kept it at bay. The yoghurt with live cultures is a good suggestion, also acidopholus capsules.

I also get it a lot,  keep mouth very clean,   i even get it on my gums sometimes,  horrible!  So hard to eat,  I find it comes and goes also!

Thanks for the feedback...don't normally eat yogurt..but it's worth a try!  I've heard thrush can be cured with "nystatin" (prescription)..but i've not been lucky with it.
