Transmission from picking scabs/back acne

OK, I made a stupid mistake of letting someone pick my back acne who had been picking her own and I did see some blood. I know she probably had some on her fingernails while picking mine. Mine definitely bled. This was 2 weeks ago. I recently found out that she is Hep C positive. I know how stupid the whole situation sounds, but I realize there is a chance of transmission. My concern is, HOW MUCH of a chance is there that transmission can occur with this situation.

I will be getting tested, what is the imcubation time/how long should I wait to get tested?

I know, I put myself in a stupid situation. I'm just trying to get some better understanding of percentage/risks. If the cuts need to be very open, and if size can change risk factors. Please, I'm looking for information, not "god why would you let that happen?!" comments.

Do not think of yourself as stupid.None of us do.We have all made stupid decisions and we will continue to make them.Guess it's something to do with being human.I don't know how long you should wait before being tested, but I do know that I had the antibody test when we found out that my husband had hep c.I tested negative and they told me that they usually recommend a retest in 6 weeks but since we had been together for 20 years and hadn't really done anything differant recently that I should be ok.
With that being said the interesting thing to me is that although my husband has a few tattoos I personally think he got the virus with the acne picking. His mom use to pretty much pick acne with a needle on her kids fromm one child in her hot seat to the next.Interesting enough she has 3 of her 4 children with HCV and 2 grand children.Pretty much those are exactly the people in the family whom have been tested there could be more.
I am not telling you this to scare you.On the brighter side of things I just like Tashka for 19  years shared razors & toothbrushes with my husband before we found out he had it.
Such a weird disease in one sense it seems easy to get but in another so hard.Let us know what happens. There are some very great educated and caring people on here. The good that came from the bad of hubby having hep c is I have met a entire new family :)

Thanks fo the info, the scratches on her palms story doesn't sound like it bodes well, but I understand that the chances of something like that happening is probably not in the high percentage rate, but just curious what similar cases' probabilities are. Some understanding would help. Even if the odds are higher than I expect. I've read about stories where infected blood has gotten on cuts but risk was considered low. Just trying to get a better consensus I guess. Of course nothing will ease my mind as much as getting tested, which I plan to do when I get the info about when the best time to get tested is.

Nobody is going to analyze what you did. We all make mistakes and do things that we later regret. It happens. It is life.

Yes, if blood was involved, transmission of hepatitis C is possible. I read a story once about the lady who got it through little scratches on the palms of her hands. But possible doesn't mean 100%. My husband has hepatitis C, and for a very long time we didn't know that he does. We shared quite a few personal items during these years-razors, toothbrushes mix up. We had a child together. But I am clear.

You do need to get tested. I can not tell you when is the best time after possible exposure, but I am sure that other forum members will respond to you.

Do not worry too much. Get tested for your peace of mind. I sincerely hope that you don't have this disease.
