Then you are on a lower dose than normal not an over dose.
The drugs make you feel awful and with some people you need Procrit or other drugs to keep you on the treatment. Sorry you aren't feeling well but it isn't because your doctor has overdosed you. At 3.5 you are under dose. Doctors do sometimes lower dosages on treatment for one reason or another, I'd follow his advice but also research it on my own because underdosing can lower your chances of clearing the virus.
I think Saphira has had her peg dose reduced, is on 1000 mg riba, takes marinol to combat weight loss and nausea and takes novolin (insulin as needed) and procrit for anemia.
Saphira it seens like you are about halfway done and have been undetected since week 12. Since you are geno 1 the course of treatment is 48 weeks. Get regular lab work by your doc or hematologist is important to maintain your hemoglobin and regulate your dose and frequency of procrit. What is probably causing most of the problem is the riba, which causesthe anemia. At your weight, at least 12 weeks in and with the anemia maybe you should talk to your doc about reducing your riba by one a day (down to 4 or 800 mg) Since you got to undetected (what you call remission) you should try to keep going to complete the 48 weeks. Good luck.
How many different doctors have you seen in the last 6 months? Do you see only a hematologist or did a different doctor perscribe the Redipen and the ribavirin? Where do you live?
Thanks for that infornation but this doc told me 52wks,even though the information I have got is 48wks
I am in tx.i had the biopsy done by gasronologist and he sent me to hematologist for the treatment
The usual treatment is 48 weeks. Sometimes doctors aren't so bright and call 48 weeks 'a year'. Whether it's 48 or 52 weeks it's important to stay on schedule with your redipen and the ribavirin. To give you the best chance, you should be getting a blood test (complete blood count - CBC) about every two weeks. Are you doing that? Is it done in your doctor's office. Who injects your procrit you, or do they do it in the doctors office. Do you have any diseases other than hepatitis-c?
