omg maybe thats why my memory is so bad and im always tired,im going to get vit b tests done, thanks for info on that.
sorry i havnt gotany thoughts on this as dont know anything about liver and what it stores etc.
There seems to be a correlation between age and low B12
http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/infocenter/vitamins/vitaminB12/
I don't have a lot of fibrosis - fibroscan 3.5 - but do have hepC. I have never been tested for low B12 but assume that I wouldn't be having such a dramatic reaction if my b12 had been normal already.
I am loving having more energy. Don't have too much trouble sleeping but still get the anxious tightness. So may try your remedy Andiamo and cut back to twice weekly. On days when I take the b12 and then go to the gym that seems to get the anxiety over with and the rest of the day I just sail through and get loads done. So my first thought is that the b12 seems to trigger the fight-or-flight hormones and a good run at the gym flushes them through.
Mant thanks for your answers Andiamo and brianmo. I'm really interested in this now and good to know that I'm not the only one getting this anxiety thing.

My doctor also put me on b 12 sometime ago but I became so wired and anxious, I was like the energizer bunny! Could not sleep. So, she took me off it. Now this was before starting tx so maybe I will discuss going on it again and start out like andiamo said and do a couple times a week. It was a pill that dissolved under my tongue.
I have trouble staying asleep and b12 seems to make it worse. It gives me much more energy and my memory improves, so I take it a couple of times a week and that seems to balance things out. All in all, I think it really helps. I would love to find out if there is a correlation between low b12 and fibrosis or just hepC with no fibrosis.
Many thanks Andiamo for posting this.
I do get fatigued and get the feeling that my head is so heavy I just can't hold it up any more, so I started B12 sublingual supplement, every other day, also another supplement will more of the B vits.
After less than a week I am getting a tight sensation in my diaphragm similar to what anxiety might feel like. That heavy head feeling is gone though!
Some people on this thread mention not being able to sleep so well on b12. My question is - when first starting B12 is it a known symptom to feel more energised but to the point of feeling anxious? I don't really want to feel this tightness round my middle but I don't want to go back to the heavy-heads either. Does anybody recognise this and will it go away if I continue with the B12 & B supplements?
Thanks

I've used B12 n B's in general for 20 years before I was diagnosed. Dr. has me on a sublingual drop now. They run my vitamin panels. I read the labels on all the green defense shakes n protein whey I drink. Lots of those amino acids etc. It's hard to know, but Dr. approved it. I don't make a full shake daily. Can't find one w/ low enough iron or A.
I really think that nutrition is what allowed me to move from decompensation to tx though. It's not easy, but I have to be a nutritional ninja just to stay alive.
I can't use B12 after 1 or 2 in the afternoon. Only in the morning, or I"m up all night.

"What do you know about Acetyl L Carinitine ?"
Nada, except that the 'L' probably means thats its racemate or mirror molecule is useless or harmful.
In regards insurance, CerefolinNAC is only FDA approved, at this time, for Alzheimers related dementia - not B vitamin supplementation. This means you may need an appt. with a neurologist (also sorta pricey) or someone else who Rxs it on a regular basis to get an off-label Rx. This might mollify your insurance.
I was fortunate in that my family doc couldn't figure out the numbness in my toes was diabetes related peripheral neuropathy. When neuro doc ran his battery of tests, he found my B-12 was at the low end of normal range. So I ended up with a high $ fancy-schmancy 'script for a med that has helped both my PN and my B-12 levels.
The novel feature of Cerefolin is that it passes the blood-brain barrier without the need for shots or sublingual tabs.
I just bought some drops at Walgreens, they were Buy 1 get 1 free...so $10 for 2 nice sized bottles. I gotta say, not sure if it's anxiety, hormones or the drops, but I haven't sat down in 2 days and usually by 3 I'm ready for a nap.
just checked my insurance and they don`t cover :-(
would be $100 for 30 caps.......
Jarrows makes a time release version of NAC 600mg.
which is supposed to give you up 5hrs of NAC whereas reg. only up to 1.5hrs. As for B12 and Folate I use B-Complex Phosphorylated by Metabolic Maintance.
What do you know about Acetyl L Carinitine ?
thanks
My b12 is low too, but I don't know if I have fibrosis. I read a study about B-12 and a correlation between viral load and also improved treatment outcome. I am not a scientist so I don't understand the science mumbo jumbo.
Texas BCBS covers aprox. 80% making it about $20 copay as opposed to aprox. $100/mo. for uninsured.
Andiamo:
I do , but I don`t know if it is from B 12 , will keep an eye on that thanks.
How much B12 do take and when ?
Do you have probs falling asleep or staying asleep ?
Desrt:
Do you know if insurance co covers cerefolin when rx`d ?
B 12 improves my memory significantly, but makes my insomnia worse. Do you have trouble sleeping when you take it?
With the growing evidence of links between the liver, insulin resistance, and cognitive problems, it would seem this would be an ideal post-tx Rx.

Can't find the other article, but there was a report on msnbc or Nightly News about insulin nasal spray being used to help Alzheimers patients and the link between insulin resistance and cognitive problems.
I was already taking NAC on the advice of HR for my occupational exposure to solvents. Just grateful my neuro is ahead of the curve on this stuff.
Interesting , it has Folate, B12 and NAC.
I have been supplementing B12 for a long time just like Vit D
and have been monitoring it by serum test.
I does not have to be sublingual to be absorbed.
After first trying sublingual B-12 for a year, this is the Rx my neurologist settled on to tx my B vitamin deficiency.
