It does not have to be a meal, just a little something, preferably with fat in it to help the riba stay in your system.  Could be half a granola bar, small handful of almonds or pecans, spoon of peanut butter, piece of cheese.  You'll think of lots of little portable snacks when you start thinking about it.

One other comment: on the dosing diary programs for the studies, they ask WHAT TIME you took the study drug, but only how many riba today and did you take your peg today and at what dosage.  I wouldn't be surprised if we were so saturated with the riba that we could take all pills at once if it would not crash our hgb worse.

do i have to eat with the riba cuz thats whats throwing off my time. I have no appetite so when I do its like almost noon  and then again at 6:30 with dinner. I would prefer to take my other meds early and then eat somthing around 9 am and take the riba at 9 am its hard cuz I hate eating in the morning! anyone have a better plan. I take my shot between 6 and 7 teus.pm..

I had to change my dosing times on my pills as soon as I started because the time of my first appt I ended up having to get up at 4am to take a dose. (triple therapy placebo/telaprevir).

I was told if you had to change times, always go back, not forward.  That way there is no drop.  At least no more than occurs with the interferon anyway.  I may take more than a week to adjust if you don't want to do it all at once, but it is definately better to do it too soon rather than later. Especially in the beginning.

My meds were stopped for several days at one point.  Restarting on Tuesday instead of Friday was a problem because I'm in a study and by the time the Monday bloodwork came back on Thurs. or Fri., it was too late to make any adjustments if necessary.  With permission, I moved shot a day per week to get back to Friday.  The interferon levels did indeed drop on the 8th day, because the 1 day later move always brought my platelets up a little.

Nurse said I could move it in the other direction (closer to last shot instead of a day later) but that sounded completely insane.  Stuff was already stomping me; didn't want any double dose days!

It is better to do that at same hour, it is not a problem if it will be done +/- 2 hours to each side, but regulary adviced in the same time.

I have bumped mine back to Saturday from Friday before with permission. Study said it's OK and write it down on the day I really do it. I'm doing it again this week because I have something to do with my kid all day tomorrow and I don't want to risk feeling as bad as I did last Saturday.

Well...im thinkn is a good idea to be on the exact hour and day with the shots...because the drug has a half life of pretty much one week...if we are lucky...so im thinkn it wise to connect the 2 shots as as close as possible....sort of like the BOC...you have to be dead on time the blue bombers  just did # 32...the countdown is beginning

I have been a very compliant patient and took my shots and oral medications pretty much at the same time.  However, I did move my interferon shots up a few days for convienence (sooner), but it messed my schedule up at the end and on my own decided to take an extra interferon shot.  So, I was pretty OCD about my meds except moving up my shot over the course of 48 weeks.

Matching the hour doesn't matter but same day does.  Levels will start to drop on day 8.  I always stuck with evening but if I had plans I did it earlier (they never made me sick).

I have done all of my shots between 5:15 pm and 6:00 pm every Friday.  The riba pills I pretty much have taken exactly at 6:30 in the morning but the evenings were between 5:00 and 6:30 p.m.

I take mine between 7-8 p.m. every Friday. I'm a little more lax with the Riba, but haven't stretched it more than 2 hours off my 8 am/6 pm routine. My life pretty much revolves around this stuff.
