What do you think about these test results

I used a needle once over 20 years ago. I have been tested every two years for the anti-HCV, for the last six years and do normal blood tests. All three tests came back negative for anti-HCV. Occasionally have had borderline elevated ALT but it goes back to normal. Now, in my last test, my HCV ratio is 1.24 (all other liver enzymes were normal.) Doctor is doing further tests. Could I have gotten three false negatives ove the last six years and the virus has been sitting in wait ?  Does that make sense ?

Thanks. Thats what I am hoping. It seems wierd that I would blow three false negatives over a six year period. I got a negative on my last test 18 months ago that I did for my life insurance and I know that I havent done anything remotely to put me at risk over the last fifteen years. I have read a lot about the extremenly high prevalance of false postives in ratios less than 3 (some studies put it at 99.9 others at 95 percent.)

As everyone says, we are not doctors here BUT all the info out there says that if you have had Hep C tests done since 1992, they should be accurate.

One needle use is enough but if you were positive, it should have shown up in previous tests.
